As a UHG Corporate Services Senior Business Analyst in Enterprise Optimization & Strategy, you will work closely with UHG Corporate Services management to participate in analysis that may include any of the following: internal consulting, business case development, strategic alliance and change management, cost savings initiatives, marketing of the strategic sourcing organization and supplier diversity, financial analysis of projects and proposals, and analyzing spend to develop innovative strategies that drive business value and enterprise consistency.

Candidates should be able to gather business information and synthesize it logically and analytically to communicate an effective message to leadership.

This role will support the Enterprise Optimization & Strategy team on all goals, objectives, research, recommendations, partnerships, projects, and programs as assigned. You will be empowered to support short and long term operational/strategic business activities and develop, enhance, and maintain operational information and models that will have an impact on business decisions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make contributions and create valuable solutions to improve the health care system.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis to support decision making including presenting economic outcomes and identifying key value drivers, benefits, perspectives, and risks
  • Effectively work with data produced through several digital tools, environments, and services. Requires comfort in ambiguity
  • Analyze, review, forecast, and trend complex data, including financial data
  • Provide insights and thought leadership to internal customers advising on options and contributing to decision making
  • Develop business cases to support strategic business activities and decisions
  • Present analysis and interpretation for operational and business review and planning
  • Develop concise, data-driven communications to influence internal customers, business partners and leadership; simplify complex information to ensure understanding
  • Develop ad-hoc client and operational reports and analysis to support Corporate Services’ initiatives
  • Present analysis and findings for operational/business review and planning purposes
  • Support short and long term operational/strategic business activities through online research and analysis
  • Develop recommended business solutions through research and analysis of data and business process to implement when appropriate

This is a complex, fast-paced, matrixed environment with a lot of moving parts. The challenge is in developing, enhancing and maintaining operational information and models. You'll be expected to interpret and analyze large amounts of data from multiple sources and use it to tell a meaningful story to a variety of stakeholders and personalities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in business / financial analysis
  • Experience with requirements scoping, financial analysis and compiling / communicating the findings and recommendations
  • Experience with process improvement, workflow, benchmarking and / or evaluation of business processes
  • Experience gathering and documenting requirements from the client / business
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with PC based software programs and automated database management systems required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Hybrid working model with minimum three days in the Minnesota Corporate office. Flexible on day selections
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
  • Ability to communicate analysis, including trends and opportunities, effectively and concisely to internal customers, both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to problem solve performing research conflicting / inaccurate or ambiguous data
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA degree
  • Experience with process improvement, workflow, benchmarking and / or evaluation of business processes
  • Experience working with statistical models and performing statistical analysis
  • Multiple years of experience gathering requirements from the client/business and documenting
  • Ability and experience developing business cases (operational and financial) to support transformative initiatives
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and database structures
  • Solid history of quickly gaining credibility, partnering with business leaders, and exhibiting executive presence
  • Solid consultative, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to articulate business strategies and formulate concise solutions to complex problems
  • Champion continuous change, consult with versatility, exhibit personal leadership, and model a customer orientation
