This position identifies, defines, leads, facilitates and implements business systems process, procedural, and processing changes to meet Optum Claims/Operations and Delivery market and healthplan/payer performance standards, contractual requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The role will support both short and long term operational and strategic business change-management processes, project activities, and maintaining and providing operational information and models. As such they will develop and implement effective business and systems solutions, strategies, and recommendations as an outcome of these efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primary lead to manage, monitor, prioritize, and provide associated reporting of business systems change-management requests of Facets Claims role in cross-functional analysis, planning, governance, development and deployment forums and processes
  • Elicits and documents end to end claims and adjunct operational and technology related requirements gathering sessions to assess, interpret, and analyze internal and externally driven needs and requirements
  • With minimal guidance, collaborate with Claims, Operations, IT, and client/payer staff and stakeholders to define and document solutions relative to project and user requirements. Enables and guides collaboration of business and technical SMEs and stakeholders to analyze, define and implement agreed-upon operational and system changes
  • Understands and can discuss, document and present the application and business implications of changes to process, policies, and procedures within Claims and related operational processes and capabilities
  • Provides analytical support and expertise needed to translate requirements into functional solutions to create and revise business systems processes, procedures, and processing capabilities. Solves complex problems and conducts complex analysis
  • Facilitates meetings and presentation of analysis, requirements, workflows, and related solutions on behalf of or to external or internal across Optum Operations and Tech stakeholders, users and SMEs, care delivery staff, clients/healthplans, and vendor staff.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships and processes with those parties to effectuate timely and accurate change management outcomes.
  • Produce, update and maintain appropriate documentation regarding current state processes as well as additions or changes to associated documentation
  • Supports application testing and configuration with project teams to ensure solution will meet the business objectives of the requirements
  • Performs and contributes input to Cost/Benefits Analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or 3+ years related experience
  • 3+ years of Government Program (Medicaid/Medicare) or Commercial healthcare experience
  • 3+ years of healthplan experience in an exempt operational analysis or managerial role
  • 3+ years of experience working with claims or comparable healthcare processing platforms such as Facets, Cosmos/Nice or other high-volume end-to-end processing systems
  • 3+ years of experience leading change management or project deliverables that spans facilitating, defining and documenting process analysis, improvements (such as workflows and SOPs), business system requirements, solution designs (configuration documents, BRDs, features, user stories, etc.), and associated testing process coordination
  • Experience working on multiple project and numerous day-to-day changes concurrently
  • Experience working in a highly virtual and matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Experience with SDLC and Agile Methodologies and related change-management software (Rally, JIRA, ALM)
  • Claims and operational process acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize deliverables, and expedite problem analysis or solution barriers to expedite timely outcomes
  • Business partner focus; ability to manage diverse personnel, viewpoints, and personalities
  • Ability to communicate ideas and analysis in a clear concise fashion to clients, colleagues, and business leaders

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
