The Sr Bus Anlys Consltnt, Health Information Management/CDI Development – CLI Innovation - is a lead position providing subject matter expertise to support the LifeCode® engine, computerized coding software that utilizes state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing (NLP), to ensure high quality ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT code assignment. LifeCode® is the “behind the scenes” partner of Optum Enterprise CAC and Optum CDI 3D. This position requires strong organizational and leadership skills with a customer service focus. This individual leads team of certified CDI professionals that specialize in CDI, but will also have a strong woring knowledge of CAC and hospital coding. The CDI team is focused on new client success, optimizing current client performance and works closely with NLP and client services staff. The CDI lead reports to the Associate Director, Business Analyst, for HIM and CLI Innovation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the implementation and development teams to ensure on time deployment of CDI and NLP Commercialization products
  • Defines metrics that track productivity and quality of customer CDI support and implementation and enforces performance standards. Reports metrics to senior management on a regular basis
  • Designs internal CDI training programs, ensuring that all CDI team members maintain certification and sustain a high level of CDI expertise
  • Mentor CDI team members and ensures that all CDI customers have primary and back-up resources available
  • Collaborates with Development, QA, Project Management, Customer Support and Sales to identify development priorities and resolve customer CDI issues
  • Suggests product enhancement ideas based on subject matter expertise in CDI
  • Develops innovative approaches and ideas; displays original thinking and creativity
  • Provides detailed CDI feedback on regression and functional tests using Windows based quality assurance software
  • Specifies requirements to optimize performance of the LifeCode engine for CDI
  • Analyzes clinician documentation to provide relevant examples for the CLI development team and provide feedback for customer service and sales
  • Applies Health Information Management ethical principles and guidelines in the development of the LifeCode engine
  • Applies knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology in the development of the LifeCode engine
  • Acts as a resource for CDI questions and related issues internally
  • Maintains all certification CEUs

Required Qualifications:

  • CDIP or CCDS certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Must have one of CCS, COC, CIC, or CRC
  • 3+ years of CDI experience or a clinical/health science degree (nursing, biology, etc.).
  • A working knowledge of professional healthcare, billing companies, medical record coding and auditing
  • 1+ year experience working knowledge of Optum Clinical Language Intelligence (CLI)
  • 1+ year experience of technical Knowledge of healthcare domain

Preferred Qualifications:

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
