For this role, you will be part of the Medicare Star Data Management, Quality, Reporting, and Governance team. You will be accountable for leading the Operational Excellence and Issue Management Team of 3 resources. This team’s primary focus is to monitor - Issue Mgmt, Data integrity and analysis, and Operational excellence – and promote data quality and process.

Our team performs a variety of tasks intended to ensure our business operations provide stellar, efficient, and scalable services to internal customers while ensuring operational excellence and continuity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leadership
    • Provide direction, leadership, management, and coaching to 3 quality specialists and data manager
    • Develop a lean culture that fosters employee development and training in support of continuous improvement and results
    • Coach, mentor and train the operations team on lean concepts and tools
    • Create standard work documentation, visual work instructions, templates and training material
    • Train and coach staff on the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies
    • Support and assist with department budget
  • Project Management
    • Manage and report on quality issues to completion
    • Manage intake and assignment of customer support tickets
    • Develop, lead, and manage multiple projects utilizing project management methodologies
    • Assist in leading change and promoting a continuous improvement environment through employee engagement
    • Assist in the development and execution of a Department Communication Plan
    • Develop and facilitate full project documentation using specified standards to meet identified goals and objectives of each project
  • Operational Excellence
    • Develop, implement, and present operational excellence program and regular progress metrics in support of the UHC M&R STAR program to close performance gaps, increase efficiency, and set best practices
    • Develop, collaborate, and support a visual metric/report management system to track, improve, and sustain operational performance and improvement
    • Collect, review, and analyze data to advise and recommend to stakeholders and leaders on gaps and opportunities for improvements across multiple platforms, systems, and databases
    • Assist in developing of policies, procedures, and standards of operation and practice

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree, quantitative focus a plus
  • 4+ years of progressive management experience, including the management of a small teams
  • Experience in working with Operational business metrics, such as Work force management, data quality, or defect resolution
  • Demonstrated solid coaching, developing, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated Lean Six Sigma fundamentals, concepts, and execution including project management and process improvement experience
  • Demonstrated change management experience
  • Demonstrated solid collaborative problem-solving skills evidenced by results in past positions
  • Solid process background with an ability to understand work flow and throughput of a large matrixed operation
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to positive and effective customer service with track record of matching capabilities to meet/exceed customer expectations
  • Proficient in presenting and communicating with all levels in the organization to ensure program efficiency, progress, and success
  • Proficient in obtaining, organizing, and analyzing data to make fact-based decisions and drive root cause analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite including Project, Word, Power Point, Visio, Excel
  • Proven ability to maintain focus and a positive attitude in ambiguous or high pressure situations
  • Proven ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment which requires creativity and self-motivation
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Black Belt Six Sigma Certification or Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Work experience writing in SQL
  • Clinical quality or healthcare database management experience
  • Knowledge of HEDIS and Star Quality Specifications
  • Solid analytical and interpersonal skills
