About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

This position will reside within the Energy Efficiency Implementation Support organization and will be involved with providing back office support for the Energy Efficiency Implementation and Compliance and Reporting groups, budget and forecast management, cost collection, internal and external cost reporting, regulatory reporting and financial support. The analyst will also design, implement and maintain processes, procedures and controls associated with Energy Efficiency Implementation Support functions.

This position will be both challenging and rewarding due to its involvement with the individual projects associated with Energy Efficiency (EE). It will provide assistance to the Program Implementation Managers while they oversee their portfolio of EE programs. This position reports to the Manager, Energy Efficiency Implementation Support and can be located at the West Penn Power Headquarters in Greensburg, PA, Met­ Ed Headquarters in Reading, PA OR the General Office in Akron.Ohio.

Responsibilities include:

  • Actively participating in and promoting the FirstEnergy safety philosophy, working safely to advance the FirstEnergy safety vision, and follow safe work practices
  • Serving as department SME (Subject Matter Expert) for program accounting
  • Serving as department SME for cost collection and reporting including use of QlikView
  • Serving as department SME for program budgets and forecasts, including entry into UIPlanner
  • Developing and maintaining project performance reports and financial analytics that provide business intelligence for decision-making
  • Creating and manipulating complex worksheets in Microsoft Office Excel for analytical analysis
  • Performing control activities as defined or to be defined for this position
  • Preparing financials for state regulatory reports
  • Researching and developing responses for regulatory data requests, and regulatory or Company financial audits
  • Serving as support liaison with Energy Efficiency Program vendors for file transfers, account information, and data reconciliation
  • Providing back office support for customer records reconciliation
  • Identifying and participating in the analysis of cost savings and efficiency opportunities related to Energy Efficiency Implementation Support processes and procedures
  • Building and fostering strong communication and relationships with Energy Efficiency staff and leadership
  • Developing and maintaining procedures that establish or improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Energy Efficiency
  • Supporting other Company initiatives as requested
  • Developing, managing and providing oversight over diverse and complex processes
  • Educating and directing others on technical subject matters
  • Improving the effectiveness of programs and processes
  • Ability to make significant contributions toward the achievement of program goals and objectives
  • Providing leadership and support to the Mgr, Energy Efficiency Implementation Support with respect to major projects and issue resolution
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to increase efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications include:

  • Four-year degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline, with a minimum 10 years relevant work experience required. In lieu of a degree, 13 years relevant work experience will be required. Relevant work experience will include managing project teams, financial background and expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Viewed as a technical expert in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, and other business-unit specific applications.
  • Qlikview, SharePoint, Power BI and SAP experience is necessary
  • Ability to lead by example
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; Ability to formally present complex subject matter to all levels of management
  • Superior analytical abilities
  • Ability to travel 5-10% of the time based upon program needs
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to lead special project teams
  • Ability to make significant contributions toward improving programs and process effectiveness
