Position Summary

IT Business Analyst to the Worldwide Patient Safety (WWPS) business function within Global Drug Development. Extremely dynamic environment of critical importance to patient safety and risk management for all BMS products, in development as well as in the market.

We seek a scientifically oriented Business Analyst to join the IT Global Risk Management team. In this role, you will be a key facilitator and provide the necessary expertise in evaluating business systems and user needs towards the delivery of digital capabilities that facilitate a compliant, high quality & best in class Global Risk Management across BMS products, liaise with the GDD stakeholders and project delivery team in all phases of delivery, plan digital solutions, and drive them to completion and facilitate adoption across GRM. As a member of a matrixed Global Drug Development IT organization (GDD IT), you will interact with internal and external delivery partners to ensure that the IT environment is organized, integrated, well-supported and easy to use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate user needs and business systems within the Global Risk Management business area
  • Identify, prioritize, and perform business analysis activities (e.g. current state analysis, future state ideation, requirements documentation) for key products and initiatives. Elicit and create requirements specifications as requested by business and technical areas (Business Requirements, User Requirements, and Functional Specifications)
  • Be a key facilitator across multi-functional teams focused on business process management and translation of business requirements.
  • Proactively understand current and ongoing business problems, process nuances and be able to translate them to downstream technology ideas and implementation
  • Create and maintain appropriate business views in the standard toolset, document requirements, create functional specifications and prepare user journeys, wireframes/flowcharts
  • Document and present findings and requirements (e.g. user stories) across audiences, including technical delivery team, GRM IT leadership, and GRM stakeholders. Create and develop user requirements and/or functional requirements of systems to improve quality, performances, external interfaces, and constraints
  • Ensure that various appropriate SDLC documents are kept up to date and are available
  • Carryout analysis of requirements by checking for derived requirements that are logical to customers’ requests
  • Manage requirements and ensure they are stored in automated systems
  • Record, manipulate, and generate reports on requirements stored in the requirements management tool (such as HP ALM, Requisite Pro or similar)
  • Supervise requirements traceability information and record requirements status for the project
  • Monitor changes to baseline requirements with the use of effective application of change control processes and tools
  • Develop User Acceptance Test Plans, Test Scripts, and perform test execution as required
  • Work with QA group to ensure company and industry protocols and standards are being met
  • Perform relevant activities including documentation, training, and other work as directed by BMS

Required Skills and Education

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree
  • Business Analyst with at 5+ years of experience in a pharma / biotech environment
  • Demonstrated SDLC understanding and experience
  • Experience working in Agile development teams is desired.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical quality management and validation
  • Strong collaboration and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in complex matrix organization
  • Strong risk and issues management capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels in the organization
  • MS Office proficiency including PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Expertise with business process definition
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to create high quality deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Adhere to BMS standards and policies

Preferred Skills/Certifications

  • Knowledge of Risk Management preferred
  • Experience with pharmaceutical industry and validated systems preferred
  • Project Management Professional or equivalent preferred
  • Experience with HP ALM
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification a plus
  • Understanding of design thinking and UX a plus
