ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF): Under limited supervision and using various data mining techniques, the Lead Business Analytics Associate is primarily responsible for performing moderately complex diagnostic analyses to provide answers to questions such as “Why did it happen?” and “What action can I take?” Diagnostics includes hypotheses formulation, data translation, experimental design/measurement and insight generation to help inform the line of business. Insights includes identifying trends and outliers and providing potential solutions to help resolve business challenges or to implement process improvements. Success will be found by leveraging business acumen to anticipate business partner needs to generate own work / analyses; collaborating with both broader analytic teams and with a diverse group of business partners in order to provide solutions and recommendations; developing “client ready” consumable output; and using data to tell a compelling story to stakeholders.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Proactively communicating with both business partners and stakeholders as well as asking the right questions to understand analytic needs• Analyze, identify, and recommend appropriate solutions to moderately complex problems• Convert data and information into insights that will better answer the “why” questions• Create “client ready” output and use data visualizations techniques to tell a compelling story• Occasionally guide or monitor the work of othersREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) plus a minimum of 2 years relevant experience or a Master’s with 1 year • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint as well as a developing data visualization skill set• Experience with large datasets and analytical programming languages such as SQL, SAS, R and Python • Ability to learn the process of consuming data from both internal and external data supply chainsEXPECTED COMPETENCIES:• Communication: Basic written and verbal communication skills with the desired ability to cohesively present and organize information in support of findings as well as the desired ability to be able to tell a compelling story and influence others using said data and information• Partnering: Posses both relationship building and interpersonal skills and is comfortable with having a “seat at the table” with business partners and stakeholders• Business Acumen: Owns a high level understanding of business strategies and the business of banking and the ability to ask the right questions with knowledge of both upstream and downstream impacts• Problem Solving: Demonstrates critical thinking including the ability to transform data in an effort to assist with answering the “why” questions and how actions may impact others • Leadership: Able to work autonomously
