This role will establish decision frameworks, that accelerate and continually scrutinize the development and deployment of operational strategies that optimize the costs and benefits to key business outcomes in regards to Country, Site and Patient Allocation Strategy development.

Specifically, the Associate Director of Clinical Trial Business Planning will be accountable for:

  • Ensuring Country, Site and Patient Allocation strategies welcome and accept uncertainty through statistical modeling, while ensuring acute and immediate operational plans are developed to drive the plausible and preferred outcomes.
  • Improving executional outcomes across the portfolio (ex: shorter recruitment timelines, lower site costs and waste), leading to accelerated pace of outcomes while balancing costs and quality via challenging operational status quo and pushing for innovative and rationale implementation strategies.
  • Strengthening data-driven decision making, through partnership with a central analytics organization (Business Insights & Analytics) and internal stakeholders, to synthesize, interpret, and integrate data and information into allocation strategy development.
  • Identifying and incorporating implications to the delivery of the entire Book of Work, when driving decisions at study level. Specific implications around competing trials and synergistic opportunities are pertinent. Requires engagement across a diverse stakeholder engagement model, as well as identification and resolution of incentive conflicts.
  • Driving portfolio optimization, that maximizes enrollment and recruitment potential across studies and programs, through collaboration with key business partners that is aligned with Regulatory, Medical and Commercial asset strategy and operational capability development.
  • Ensuring regional resources are applied to where they have the most impact, with consideration to long term development and portfolio nuances.
  • Driving decision support for internal trade-off and prioritization activities.
  • Representing and collaborating with Global Development Operation functions to translate demands of upcoming work into functional support strategies.
  • Partnering across Clinical Trial Business Operations and stakeholders to proactively identify risks and issues, action and prioritize associated mitigations and process improvements.
  • Representing Clinical Trial Business Planning as needed in matrix forums, strategic teams or committees (preparatory materials, direct participation, or representative).
  • Developing productive working relationships with key stakeholders throughout BMS with the ability to think strategically and effectively express his/her views.
  • Developing and promoting a work place culture that values diversity of thought, promotes integrity and creates an atmosphere that supports coaching and fosters accountability.

Experience and expertise required:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required. A degree in Quantitative Science or equivalent is preferred. At least 8 years clinical trial operations experience is required.
  • Robust understanding of the drug development process and global clinical operations with an exceptional understanding of clinical trial feasibility is required.
  • Statistical acumen is required, with experience of making decisions based on statistical forecasting.
  • Strategic influence via translation of data insights into impactful storytelling.
  • Experience in matrix management is desirable with the ability to engage, inspire and influence others. Good communication skills with a proven ability to effectively engage and manage key internal stakeholders in various functions and geographies. Good presentation and negotiation skills with the ability to timely resolve conflict in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely, on-budget execution of tasks. Attention to detail with excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
