Job Description

Position Description:
We are seeking a Director of Business Analytics to help lead the development of applications that deliver data driven insights and improved business outcomes.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Research & Development Division, IT Engineering Services , this position will work closely with directors and executives across our Research & Development Division organization to understand key business problems and develop appropriate analytical approaches and models. This position will lead the overall strategy, design, & architecture for solutions to meet analytical needs and is accountable for driving excellence in the delivery and support of analytics.
Key responsibilities include:
Deeply understand pharmaceutical development to collaborate with leaders in identifying opportunities to where fact-based analysis and advanced analytics can drive improved compliance, quality, and operational decision-making
Prioritize projects against clear business objectives and ensure solutions deliver business value
Partner with BTPs to define business outcomes and identify where analytics can improve/transform the business
Partner with the data engineering team to deliver fit for purpose data platforms and applications for robust core reporting and scalable ad hoc and self-service analytics
Create a data enabled value vision and strategy by means of the organization’s data assets and data ecosystem.
Establish data and analytics governance and enable all forms of business outcomes through analytics, render insights for decision making, automated decisions and augmentation of human performance.
Provide leadership to manage data as a business asset and to maximize the return on data assets.
Develop methods to ensure consistent application and use of analytics. Establish the governance of data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications and automated decision making.
Foster the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies and data literacy across our Research & Development Division IT CRWEG teams.
Builds strong cross functional relationships with various business stakeholders and IT teams.
Stay informed on industry BI/Analytics and best-in-class practices
Provide thought leadership on all matters related to BI and Analytics and continually improve data literacy across the organization
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics and Science OR in a related field
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum 10 years of business experience, with 3+ years of experience in a business analytics or similar role
Hands on analytical experience with a proven track record of results
Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach to addressing challenges
Product management and ownership skills and ability to coach teams on the product model execution
Ability to lead and manage multiple teams and projects without direct positional authority
Ability to effectively drive business, culture and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
Broad experience desired, but not essential, in multiple competency areas of data and analytics delivery. Examples are data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), data governance, data architecture, data integration, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, MDM, data standards, regulatory compliance and enterprise architecture frameworks.
Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure
Drive for results augmented by strong planning and organization skills
Collaborates effectively with and through others to achieve shared goals
Demonstrates ethics and integrity
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Advanced degree in analytics or information systems
Experience with visualization platforms, e.g. Spotfire, Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI, and other analytical tools (SQL, ETL scripts, data warehousing, NoSQL)
Understanding of data architecture principles and experience in solving data quality issues
Experience with GxP systems and information standards
