What You Will Do

The Market Development Manager will be responsible for identification, influence, and acquisition of key sales talent within Spine’s competitive market. This position will also be responsible for enhancing the abilities of the entire team within his/her geography to ensure appropriate focus and alignment of resources, delivering a consistent message in doing so. Lastly, this position will be responsible for identifying large opportunities in his/her said area to develop a comprehensive SYK plan to execute on taking that market share related to new talent.

Strategically create a collaborative plan in respective market to identify Greenland and execute on taking this market share related to new talent

  • Ability to illustrate and define industry relationships, and historical spine experience with those said relationships of surgeons, administrators, colleagues, and competitors
  • Demonstrate ability and competence to influence, lead, recruit, and hire new substantial spine representatives
  • Discover and close new hospital or surgeon opportunities leading to increased revenue and market penetration
  • Sell and communicate 5 dimensionally (Up with VP Strategic Growth and AVP’s, Up with Strategic Sales Director and Market Development Director, Across with Strategic Sales Managers and Regional Sales Managers, and Down with Sales Channels (Agents and Reps), and internally with Pricing, HR, Finance and Legal
  • Develop and manage Market Development target list in concert with Strategic Sales that identifies the biggest conversion opportunities for our competition in each market
  • Contract management of assigned market hires
  • Ensure thorough legal consultation with counsel and HR occurs to ensure mitigation of risks and appropriate evaluation of all competitive hires
  • Ensure identified targets had been analyzed to ensure legitimacy of results, including potential for revenue impact and growth within assigned territory
  • Identify potential or existing issues and own corrective steps
  • Develop strategies to: increase volume/share within assigned region, target large spine institutions for conversion opportunities and for sales team correspondence within assigned region

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in sales; prefer 3 of those years to be within the Spine industry
  • Demonstrated business and analytical ability with a proven ability to build relationships and influence different groups
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Accustomed to working independently with a high degree of accountability
  • Knowledge in the use of current office technologies (MS Office suite, Salesforce.com, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues of a broad scope using independent judgement and solid attention to detail.
  • Must be able to influence key surgeons and decision makers, as well as potential key talent being recruited to Stryker.
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple conflicting priorities in fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively via phone and email.
  • Travel required within territory, in support of other territories within the region, and to national/area sales meetings and conventions.
