General Profile
Contributes to developing new concepts/processes/systems in emerging operations and contributes to creating new patterns of work to achieve leaps in operating quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
This role is leveraged to drive or support one or more of the following:

  • Long-term strategic planning, focused on an emerging or evolving marketplace
  • Mid-term execution planning and implementation supporting transformational efforts and large, complex programs that are high value and strategic in nature
  • Short-term reactive services to meet customer solution needs

The individual in this position is responsible for the solutioning of new business/capabilities and growth opportunities of established operations. This position is also responsible for establishing and maintaining market relationships with senior leaders to drive strategy and maintain market alignment, conduct due diligence assessments, assist with cost benefit analysis and contract management. Additional responsibilities for this position may include oversight of business resources to ensure all activities are completed on time and meet objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Builds trust, confidence and respect with senior leaders at the local market level and across OptumCare to generate value

  • Builds new solutions and/or modifies existing solutions that generate value, scalability, control, risk mitigation and/or a unified experience to customers
  • Supports key strategic initiatives and provides program leadership for large, complex programs in order to ensure programs and strategies are implemented and maintained effectively
  • Builds relationships and leverages a network of experts - internal and external - that enhance innovation and performance
  • Identifies and leverages solutions/tools/processes deployed in individual business units that can be utilized at scale across the enterprise
  • Forecasts and plans resource requirements
  • Removes obstacles and manages remediation of business problems that impact delivery of products, customer satisfaction, and quality
  • Informs/influences key stakeholders on significant business or client risks even when others are responsible for course of outcome
  • Manages cross-functional communications across Optum stakeholders as new solutions are identified and implemented
  • Identifies and builds value roadmaps in collaboration with senior leaders
  • Conducts data analysis with the intent of guiding strategies and plans
  • Supports the development of new solutions and/or modifies existing solutions that generate value, scalability, control, risk mitigation and/or a unified experience to customers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years collaborating in cross-functional and matrixed environment, influencing others and gaining alignment on common goals and dynamic priorities
  • 3+ years of experience leading operations, projects, and/or business process improvement initiatives, integrating the voice of internal and external constituents
  • Experience working both with and without direct management/authority
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel
  • Proven ability to foster and manage senior-level relationships in a highly matrixed environment, influencing others and gaining alignment on common goals and dynamic priorities
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • 3+ years of health care industry experience
  • Client or account management experience
  • Management within a contact center setting

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
