What you’ll be doing...

The Competitive Pricing Team, Sr. Manager - Business Strategy is responsible for leading the competitive pricing activities for Verizon Public Sector strategic pursuits valued from 50M-500M+ dollars. In this role, this leader will serve as the subject matter expert for competitive pricing and PTW across the portfolio, and be accountable for the work-product of competitive pricing managers. This leader will be responsible for driving strategy, processes, and governance to provide clear PTW targets for key and strategic opportunities across the Public Sector and directly contribute to improving win rate and public sector revenue growth. The position reports directly to the Managing Director, Public Sector Capture.

  • Leadership of day-to-day competitive pricing functions, staff and activities for developing and presenting complex competitive pricing analyses for large, strategic, pubic sector opportunities.
  • Management of day-to-day competitive pricing functions and activities for Verizon’s public sector practice.
  • Establish overall CPT policies and procedures and communicate them to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Implement tools and innovation to improve the competitive pricing process for improved performance, price to win analysis, and win probability.
  • Provide leadership and strategic vision including planning, developing, implementing and evaluating all related processes, policies and procedures.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop a common operational picture of the competitive landscape (executives, account managers, capture managers, pricing/PCM team, etc.)
  • Keep abreast of current and projected pursuit efforts, and communicate a competitive pricing viewpoint with hypotheses of the competitors' predicted behaviors.
  • Research and provide alternate pricing approaches/solutions to pursuit efforts that will avert risk and challenge the capture team to confirm they have made the best strategy decisions.
  • Guide pricing strategy to ensure competitive bid structure to achieve highest win probabilities.
  • Manage the activities of department staff in developing and presenting complex competitive pricing analyses.
  • Interface with customers, third party vendors, subcontractors and teammates as required to develop competitive pricing strategies.
  • Act as primary interface with competitive pricing strategies and prepare review packages for senior leadership, including bid/no-bid decisions.
  • Implement tools and innovation to improve the competitive pricing process for improved performance, price to win analysis, and win probability.
  • Develop a competitive pricing database, continually adding to the knowledge repository.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the government procurement process and contractor proposal responses.
  • Experience building indirect cost structures.

Even better if you have:

  • A College Degree, Masters preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills - data analysis, market research, pricing, and planning.
  • Hands-on, self-starter with ability to multi-task and work effectively across departments, with internal and external customers
  • Ability to account for all skills/positions required to execute RFP requirements.
  • Ability to read/understand system requirements documents/SOW/CONOPS/PWS, etc.
  • Ability to conceptualize an architecture and construct a solution-driven bill of materials and/or technical solution.
  • Knowledge of government contracting and procurement.
  • Three or more years Project Management experience with proven track record and experience with deploying and delivering complex solutions.
  • Experience in Telecommunication technology.
  • Proven leadership skills & capabilities.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or CAPM.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with verbal & written communications.
  • Financial Business acumen.
  • Six or more years of competitive intelligence, competitive (new business) pricing or related support in a Federal/SLED capture organization.
  • Five or more years of experience in a senior/lead competitive pricing team role (10+ person organization).
  • Previous experience with a large systems integrator.
  • Top Secret clearance; SCI access.
