About the job

Pearson is in search of a candidate to take on their Software Development Manager role who will be able to manage several smaller software development teams spanning web and mobile operating systems. The team is focused on building out components used by the wider company to deliver a cutting-edge learning experience. The position demands someone who can communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members, analyze problems, and create solutions that meet functional as well as non-functional needs such as scalability, reliability, and extensibility. You will engage with an offshore team and ensure delivery of all development-related team tasks in a coordinated fashion.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated expertise in utilization and knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS; ReactJS experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with examples/abilities to share (including demonstrated understanding of prose, syntax, communication best practices)
  • Daily scrum with wider team to track development efforts across four sub teams
  • Ability to debug challenging front end issues that require research of the latest web technologies to determine the responsible team
  • Ability to help mentor junior developers come up with the best, most forward-thinking, scalable, backwards-compatible solutions through code reviews
  • Coordinate with project management to plan releases
  • Help with code design/architecture/refactoring
  • Meet with internal product team to keep alignment, set expectation, and advise on technical direction
  • Native mobile experience is a plus
  • Located in any EST region
