Assistant Counsel of University Procurement and Business Services
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of University Procurement and Business Services, the Assistant Counsel of University Procurement and Business Services is responsible for assisting with the planning and management of activities of the University's purchasing program; develops rules and procedures to establish and maintain legal compliance, financial accountability and physical control; and ensures a customer service centered approach when providing services to University users, outside vendors, agencies and the public. The Assistant Counsel manages day-to-day work operations in regard to the legal review of all purchasing contracts and bid documents. Additionally, the Assistant Counsel oversees the University’s risk management program. Assistant Counsel works closely with the Office of University Counsel to coordinate projects and tasks and gain alignment with University legal strategies. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Juris Doctor degree; licensed in New Jersey and in good standing with the New Jersey Bar; and a minimum of four years of professional experience directly related to the position is required. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
