The Rheumatology Business Leader is a new and innovative role accountable for driving product demand for Orencia. Additional responsibilities include facilitating medical stakeholder engagement and collaborating with BMS matrix teams to enable access to services. Allocation of time/responsibilities will be 90% on sales responsibilities and 10% on facilitating medical stakeholder engagement with Field and Home Office Medical team.

This is a primarily remote opportunity (80% remote/virtual with 20% in-person) which requires engaging with customers in remote setting with some need-driven face-to-face interactions at conferences, congresses, and/or when requested by customers.

In this Rheumatology Business Leader role, you will be supporting the New York City - Jersey City territory.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand Generation and Pull-Through: Serves as the primary BMS point of contact for healthcare providers by cultivating a deep understanding of Orencia, Rheumatologic diseases and available BMS resources to enable healthcare providers to achieve the best outcomes for their patients

  • Effectively utilizes remote channels and digital solutions with occasional face-to-face meetings to engage with HCPs and Accounts in order to educate and encourage use of product’s FDA-approved indications

  • Understands and applies knowledge of health care industry, reimbursement and access trends, applicable laws and regulations and market conditions into business plans and in daily execution of sales calls within compliance guidelines

  • Develops and implements territory plans that properly identify and prioritize activities to accomplish short and long term business plan goals

  • Demonstrates clear and thorough understanding of disease states, BMS products and relevant competitor products, including their mechanism of action, indications, efficacy, safety, etc.

  • Builds and maintains strong professional credibility with physicians in private practice, medical group practices and/or hospitals, office staffs and others in the patient care continuum

  • Fosters team effectiveness and accomplishment of shared goals by sharing knowledge, experience, and information

Scientific and KOL knowledge: Facilitates stakeholder interactions with Medical (Home Office Medical, Field Medical and Medical Information) to provide medical information to HCPs

  • Develop knowledge of select home office medical materials, as appropriate

  • Interacts with and provides data consistent with FDA approved prescribing information to KOLs at key Congresses and conferences

  • Triages communication between Investigators and BMS Medical Affairs and Global Drug Development, related to Investigator sponsored trials

  • Provide support for appropriate and timely response to unsolicited scientific questions or requests (both in-label and off-label), by providing accurate scientific data in compliance with Company Policies, legal and ethical standards or by liaising appropriately with Medical Information

Co-ordination with matrix teams: Brings a solution mindset to the role and coordinates with BMS matrix teams

  • Collaborate in accordance with BMS guiding principles, with BMS matrix teams including Marketing, Immunology ARMs (Reimbursement Managers), KAMs (Key Account Managers), Account Executives, Home Office and Field Medical to identify opportunities, develop appropriate tactics and strategies

  • Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations and BMS policies/guiding principles

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum of 3 years of Pharmaceutical / Medical / Healthcare Sales Representative experience

  • Rheumatology experience is a plus

  • Proficiency in use of digital tools and customer engagement predominately through virtual/ remote interactions

  • Demonstrated understanding of business drivers, dynamics, regulations and managed health care within the pharmaceutical industry

  • Demonstrated skills at building and maintaining professional credibility with key customers, office staff and others in the customer influence network in virtual environment

  • Effectively use active listening, probing and other selling skills to enhance communication, build and influence key customers

  • True collaborator, leveraging both internal and external networks, working in partnership to develop solutions and outcomes to maximize impact for the customer

  • Solutions oriented, innovative and creative

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, develop and execute business plans

  • Demonstrated ability to work in matrix teams

  • Demonstrated track record of developing self to drive and enhance performance

  • Understanding of Buy and Bill office model and Medicare Part B Reimbursement is a significant plus

  • Demonstrated strong sales performance track record
