Chemical Process Development (CPD) is a world-leading chemical development organization, located within GPS-Product Development, working to rapidly bring these innovative medicines to patients. The Development Chemistry function of CPD is currently seeking an experienced, innovative, impactful, entrepreneurial and highly talented individual to join our team. Our organization is focused on developing novel enabling science, exceptional chemical processes and disruptive innovation in the pursuit of safe, efficient, sustainable and industry leading manufacturing routes to BMS assets. The successful candidate should have a PhD in organic chemistry, or a related field, with approximately 7 or more years of additional industrial or academic experience. A demonstrated ability to propose and lead scientific projects. Located either at our New Brunswick, or Summit, facilities in NJ, the exceptional organic chemist joining our Chemical and Synthetic Development organization will:

  • Lead CPD chemistry teams to deliver disruptive science, novel chemical routes, innovative manufacturing processes and critical scientific knowledge to support the development and commercialization of our innovative portfolio.
  • Work across assets within the BMS portfolio to develop science to support our small molecule and synthetic assets.
  • Be independent, entrepreneurial and able to propose novel and creative ideas to solve complex chemical problems through the application of first principals understanding.
  • Manage a team of highly skilled organic chemists.
  • Contribute to the development of our culture of innovation.
  • Participate in, propose and run departmental initiatives aimed at improving our work-practices.
  • Interface across CPD functional areas (analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, engineering, technologies and drug substance supply) to execute on our integrated vision.
  • Partner with the leadership of the chemistry organization to grow, develop and train the members of the CPD community through leadership, exceptional management, coaching and mentoring.
  • Develop and grow our external presence.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in organic chemistry with and minimum of 7 years of appropriatethe experience in the pharmaceutical industry,
  • Demonstrated abilitywith experience in solving to solve challenging chemistry scientific problems to that enable the design and implementation of safe, efficient and robust chemical processes for the synthesis of clinical drug candidates
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with external organizations, driving performance of partnerships and delivering against project timelines
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both written and oral, in a cross-functional team setting.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects simultaneously and complete deliverables within established timelines.
