Job Description

New hires in office-based roles in the US & Puerto Rico will be required, subject to applicable law, to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption to this vaccination requirement that can be accommodated without an undue burden to the operation. In April 2020, our Company announced plans to consolidate our New Jersey campuses into a single New Jersey headquarters location in Rahway, NJ by 2023. Therefore, the NJ work location for this role will be temporarily based and the exact timing of the departmental move to Rahway, NJ will be communicated at a future date.

Position Description:

The Enterprise Strategy Office (ESO) has overall responsibility for driving our Company's strategy into action. As part of these efforts the ESO owns enterprise operations and risk management including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Business Continuity (BC), and Crisis Management (CM).

The Enterprise Strategy Office (ESO) operations and risk management team strives to assess the current state, identify and remediate gaps, and develop and execute upon a multi-year road map to enhance our capability in these disciplines to ensure successful delivery of our Company’s strategy. This position will primarily be focused on delivery of the Business Continuity (BC) capability across the enterprise to ensure the company can continue to deliver its key processes and products in times of disruption. The position will also support the broader Enterprise Strategy Office (ESO) team and efforts to fully integrate our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program components across the enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities:

Business Continuity Planning & Risk Management

  • Support delivery of the enterprise level roadmap for business continuity and support an “all-hazards” approach (e.g. from natural disasters to cyber-attacks) across the organization

  • Enable focused deployment of resources to progress BC efforts for areas of highest potential impact by collaborating across the company with subject matter experts to contribute to BC efforts supporting prioritized processes, products, and sites across all divisions and functions

  • Provide expertise through the BC Center of Excellence throughout the BC lifecycle including business impact analysis, BC strategy and plan development, scenario-based exercises, and continued evaluation and improvement

  • Identify dependencies within the existing business continuity ecosystem and drive solutions to ensure plans are robust and connected across these dependencies

  • Support analysis and development of metrics and objectives to communicate status, risks, and priorities of the BC program to the the Enterprise Risk Committee and/or Executive Team

  • Partner with global security, IT disaster recovery, internal audit, and other resiliency related teams to deliver a unified resilience program ensuring visibility and communication

  • Develop and foster relationships across the internal network with key functions including teams in facilities, human resources, safety and the environment, and others to ensure robust response capabilities

  • Stay abreast of evolving landscape through engagement of the internal/external community to understand industry and discipline best practices, analyze supportive technology and systems, understand regulatory implications, and bring insights back to the business

  • Contribute to the integration of the ERM efforts within the ESO and across related disciplines throughout the organization to build a robust and interconnected network

  • Support the broader enterprise operations and risk management team with prioritized risk mitigation activity, crisis management response, and other critical needs as needed

Position Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree Required

  • Advanced degree preferred (e.g. MBA,)

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in the bio/pharmaceutical or healthcare related industry or strategy consulting/execution experience within the BC or ERM discipline with an ability to apply skillset within the pharmaceutical industry

  • Demonstrated strong cross-functional team leadership, facilitation, and influencing ability

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, and ability to plan and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

  • Persuasive written and visual communications skills in a variety of settings - management presentations, one on one or group meetings

  • Confidence to challenge the status-quo and raise questions, risks, and issues

  • Ability to work in ambiguity, to problem solve, and to make rapid / disciplined decisions

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with effective, timely execution and delivery

  • Demonstrated ability to be successful within a matrix organization where strong leadership, influence and collaboration are essential to enlist support and commitment from peers

  • Proficient in managing virtual engagements and/or workshops with a variety of stakeholders

  • EQ – politically savvy, ability to work effectively with a variety of different leadership personalities.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Broad understanding of end-to-end company operations and organizational structure including research and development, manufacturing, commercial operations, financial processes, & IT

  • Experience and/or certification in related fields of risk management, crisis management, disaster recovery, or business continuity planning

  • Project or Program Management experience and/or certification (e.g. PMP)
