Job Description

New hires in office-based roles in the US & Puerto Rico will be required, subject to applicable law, to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption to this vaccination requirement that can be accommodated without an undue burden to the operation. The Vaccine Drug Product Development in our Company Research Laboratories, West Point, PA is seeking a Senior Scientist (R3) to join a team focused on development of Subunit Vaccines and novel adjuvant systems. The main responsibilities include the design, execution and documentation of lab-based activities to develop, characterize and optimize antigen and adjuvant formulations.

The successful candidate should possess educational background and experience in characterization and formulation optimization of Antigens (protein, glycoconjugates) and novel adjuvants formulations. Additionally, candidate should have experience in drug product process development ( liquid, lyophilization) scale-up and fill/finish. Good documentation practices, strong communication and collaborations skills are essential. The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced team environment, able to contribute to multiple programs, and be able to learn new skills quickly.

Minimum required education:

Ph.D +2 years, M.S. +4 years in chemical/biochemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline

Required Experience and Skills

  • Product development experience with Protein, glycoconjugate and novel adjuvants.

  • Experience in using biochemical and biophysical methodologies to characterize proteins, protein complexes, conjugates and higher order particle assemblies.

  • Experienced in liquid and lyophilized formulation and manufacturing process development.

  • Understanding of manufacturing stresses and potential degradation pathways of novel antigens/adjuvants.

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and technical problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Experience in development/characterization of drug product manufacturing unit operations (freeze/thaw, mixing, sterile filtration, filling, stoppering, visual inspection, etc.).

  • Experience developing small scale models for process scale-up.

  • Experience with preparation and manufacturing of safety assessment and clinical supplies.
