Job Description

The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research & Development Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

General Overview:

We are seeking a 6-month co-op to join Vaccine Process Research and Development within our company Research Laboratories. The candidate will work within the Vaccine Process Development department to investigate alternate formulation and purification methods for vaccine adjuvants.

Specific Job Requirements:

The candidate is expected to evaluate alternate formulation methods for vaccine adjuvants as potential improvements to the manufacturing process. In addition, the individual will perform purification and analytics, and make a recommendation for future process(es) based on their research. The individual will gain valuable experience working in an industry process laboratory, working on a cross-functional team, and collaborating with other teams within our department and research division.

The candidate is expected to function in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment. They will be expected to communicate results of their work in both verbal and written formats. In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the candidate will be expected to maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, comply with all required training, and maintain a focused attention on laboratory safety for themselves and their team.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a minimum of a BS/BA in: Chemical Engineering, Bio/Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related engineering or science discipline

  • Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to 6 months

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a co-op program at their college / university

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates should have experience working in a chemistry/biology laboratory (academic or industry setting)

  • Candidates should have current G.P.A of 3.0 or higher

  • Candidates should have experience with basic purification unit operations such as dead-end filtration

  • Candidates should have experience with analytical methods such as liquid chromatography

  • Candidates should be highly motivated, willing to take initiative to learn new skills, and be excited to implement new technologies

  • Candidates should be able to work individually and as a team player

  • Candidates should be proficient in Windows-based operating systems and Microsoft Office applications

  • Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Candidates should have basic laboratory skills such as pipetting
