When you join Verizon

Verizon is a leading provider of technology, communications, information and entertainment products, transforming the way we connect across the globe. We’re a diverse network of people driven by our ambition and united in our shared purpose to shape a better future. Here, we have the ability to learn and grow at the speed of technology, and the space to create within every role. Together, we are moving the world forward – and you can too. Dream it. Build it. Do it here.

What you’ll be doing...

The network edge is becoming an increasingly important growth vector in customers’ cloud transformation journeys. Verizon’s 5G Edge is the first Mobile Edge Compute (MEC) platform in the world that brings together Verizon’s powerful 5G network with industry-leading cloud services.

The Verizon Strategy Consulting team is the trusted strategic partner for Verizon leadership, providing project-based, cross-business unit support across core connectivity, cloud computing, and next-generation technologies including V2X, AR/VR, and AI/ML-based solutions. Our team serves as a thought leader for the company across the 5G Edge portfolio and is responsible for leading developer relations and strategic solution architecture efforts on behalf of the business unit.

As our Edge Cloud practice continues to experience rapid growth, we are looking for Solution Architects with a passion for and deep expertise with cloud computing and PaaS/SaaS technologies.

Have immediate credibility with startups, developers, architects, IT managers and/or CIOs but also don’t just want to be part of an industry movement. They want to be out front leading it.

As a 5G Edge Solution Strategist for our team, you will operate as a liaison between our customers, Verizon Leadership, and internal teams across engineering, product, and business development. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Educating customers of all sizes on the value proposition of Verizon 5G Edge and participating in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment at the network edge.

  • Communicating edge architecture best-practices across public-facing case studies and training sessions to the external Solution Architect community.

  • Syndicating customer insights to identify, design, and build strategies around new business opportunities from end-to-end, translating insights and ideas into fully-formed business plans through iterative hypothesis development and validation.

  • Supporting ad-hoc strategic projects in the area of mobile edge computing, core connectivity, and SDN, among other technologies.

This position can work out of any valid Verizon corporate office location.

What we’re looking for...

You are adaptable, curious, humble, and have a bias towards experimentation. You invent novel approaches and validate hypotheses objectively while always having the desire to guide the broader industry towards a technology you firmly believe in.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems internals (e.g. filesystems, system calls), and with networking (e.g. routing, DNS) or cloud systems.
  • Experience developing infrastructure solutions across major cloud computing providers (AWS/Azure/GCP) and/or container orchestration platforms (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Experience with popular programming languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, GoLang).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Three or more years of experience in software sales, pre-sales, or consulting.
  • One or more Professional-level or Specialty cloud certifications.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership across blog posts, white papers, or speaking engagements.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with, and gain the respect of, software developers
  • Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills.
