Our business helps support their way of life and contributes tothe survival of a culture that has thrived in a challenging environment.**Job Summary:**Portico is seeking a Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) to join our team at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Cape Canaveral FL. The SSHO will be responsible for managing the on site safety program, insuring compliance with general best practices for construction project safety.This is an ideal position for someone with great attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work well with key representatives and management at a federal client site.**Responsibilities:**+ Provides communication,training and enforcement of policies to staff.+ Makes recommendations onsafety improvements.+ Conduct job hazards analysesto identify hazards and potential risks.+ Complete workplace safetyaudits and ensure remedial action where necessary.+ Implement and enforceaccident prevention plans and activity hazard analysis, and ensure contractorcompliance with all safety and health requirements.+ Conducts daily walkthroughof the site ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational healthis not compromised.+ Interpret and applyregulatory requirements applicable to the project scope of work.+ Develop site-specific safetyprograms/plans to include emergency actions, response, evacuation and securityplans.+ Conduct daily safety andhealth inspections and mishap investigations.+ Provide safetyindoctrination to all construction site visitors and new employees.**Qualifications****Minimum Qualifications:**Please note: Candidates mustbe capable of being cleared for secure facility access on a federal facility.+ A bachelors degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field is a plus, will accept experience in lieu of degree+ A minimum of 5 years safety work on construction projects.+ OSHA 30 Hour Certificate required.+ Must have comprehensive knowledge of EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements+ First-aid/CPR Cert preferred.+ Must have worked as an SSHO on a project larger than $ 5 million+ Must havecompleted40 hour construction safety hazards awareness training, current valid certification requiredThe duties and responsibilities listed in this job description generally cover the nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
