The Safety/Quality Managerensures workplace safety, with the goal of reducing injury and safety incidents, and serves as the main Safety representative for all shifts at National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Rockville, and Poolesville Maryland Locations. Coordinates with Project Manager, Custodial Supervisors for custodial operations complience with contract quality standards. The primary focus for this role is to drive a culture of safety across all program locations for NIH and meet all contract goals of quality metrics.. The candidate must have the ability to work flexible shifts, and some weekends, primary schedule is dayshift 6:am -3:00pm M - F Supervises Safety/Quality Control activities, may have one or more direct reports, in Safety and Quality Control, ensuring that employees adhere to Akima standards for safety and quality. This personwill work closely with managerial staff and hourly employees to implement safety guidelines for projects. The Safety/Quality Manager will develop comprehensive reports, and must be well versed in industry standards for the prevention of injury or physical loss due to accident.** Job Duties: **+ Develop and/or maintain and implement quality procedures and safety policies and procedures, based upon contract requirements and any applicable Corporate and/or statutory/regulatory requirements pertinent to the site. Measure, monitor and analyze the processes and implement actions necessary to meet goals and drive continual improvement.+ Comply with the site safety program which includes conducting monthly safety meetings, training and hazard inspections and assessments. Comply with the site/contract environmental program which includes environmental site assessments, facility inspections and hazardous waste control in accordance with state, federal and regulatory environmental requirements.+ Positively promote the health, safety and wellbeing among staff and facility occupants. Provide onsite employee training and investigate all employee work related accidents and incidents and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence.+ Conduct periodic reviews to ensure employees are following GS-42 protocols, properly handling hazardous, undiluted cleaning materials+ Ensure compliance with all environmental health and safety regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.+ Perform other related duties as required.**Qualifications**** Position Requirements **+ Must have a minimum of four years of health and safety experience in a managerial/ lead role+ ** Candidate must have a minimum of six years of experience working within the janitorial/ custodial services industry **+ Must have experience creating and maintaining a culture of safety+ Current OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire; Current OSHA 30 Hour certification with OSHA Training course or equivalent within the past 24 months highly preferred.+ Must submit to background check prior to hire and ongoing as dictated by contract. Must be able to pass criminal and drug screening processes to meet current contract legibility requirements that apply or become applicable for the contract ** . **+ 2 3 Years on project(s) over 1million square feet.+ Knowledge of commonly used janitorial concepts, practices, and procedures.+ Experience with safety regulations and standards; root cause analysis; data analysis; and preventive/corrective action plans.+ Effective communication skills oral and written and able to expertly communicate with others, specifically international workers, and promote the companys mission.+ Perform customer service+ Prefer working knowledge of federal contracting and federal customers.+ Motivated and Independent worker+ Demonstrates and utilizes good judgment+ Proficient in Microsoft Office**Desired Qualifications:**+ Bilingual Spanish/English with ability to read, write and speak both fluently.** Education Required: **+ A Bachelors degree is preferred or five (5) years documented experience in related field.+ A minimum of five (5) years in quality systems, quality systems implementation is preferred.The duties and responsibilities listed in this job description generally cover the nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
