Job Description

Senior Technician, Maintenance

Job Description

The Senior Technician, Maintenance position is accountable for providing maintenance and troubleshooting supporting vaccine process equipment operations. The selected candidate will take appropriate action to correct maintenance problems and must be able to function in a team-based empowered culture.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will:

  • Seek ideas and information on how to improve customer service involving internal and external customers.

  • Apply knowledge of the overall supply chain to efficiently complete work tasks.

  • Write and maintain accurate documentation of activities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of Maintenance Manager, the Sr. Tech, Maintenance will set up, adjust, repair, and maintain bio-tech processing and utility support equipment.

  • Installation, testing, adjustment, maintenance, repair, calibration and troubleshooting of complex automated process equipment

  • Interact with vendors, other departments, contractors and disciplines on scheduling repairs, maintenance/projects, equipment testing, parts, troubleshooting and coordination activities like design reviews and engineering assessments

  • Maintain utility equipment by developing/installing new equipment, completing validation protocols, documenting work using a computerized maintenance management system and other duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager

  • Efficient and safe maintenance and repair of equipment using Lock-out Tag-out and Hazardous Energy Control Procedure updates

  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and prepares inspection reports concerning the operation of equipment and mechanical condition of the equipment.

  • Execute SAP transactions including spare parts management and PM change control.

  • Monitor calibration, maintenance, and equipment/utilities operations performance by analyzing completed work orders with an emphasis on reducing reactive work and increasing reliability

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and advance several tasks in parallel

  • Carry out industrial maintenance functions in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices and prepares technical documentation.

  • Participate in the establishment and improvement of new and existing process/utility equipment.

  • Required to be available for an on-call schedule to include days, nights, and weekends on a rotational basis with other team members every 6-7 weeks. When on rotation, hours will be 4:00am to 12:30pm M-F.

Regular Shift and Hours 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday

Education Requirement

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher

Required Experience and Skills

  • Ability to comply with regulatory requirements in accordance with GMP operations

  • Ability to read P&ID's, electrical drawings, blueprints, etc.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and applications including but not limited to: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, Calibration/Maintenance Database Systems

  • Strategic leadership skills with effective and positive verbal and written communication skills

  • Intelligent planning, scheduling, and time management skills

  • Proficient in the use of general hand and power tools, instruments, and testing apparatus commonly used in maintenance and instrumentation

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Successful completion of PAT required

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Installation, operation, maintenance and/or troubleshooting experience with automated process equipment

  • Maintenance experience within the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical industry preferred.

  • Working knowledge with an automated building management system (Siemens Insight & Siemens Desigo)

  • GMP compliant calibration and/or maintenance database systems

  • Any of the following trade licenses would be an advantage: Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification (EPA 608 Certification), Minnesota Boilers license, Masters electrician license
