Process/Maintenance Technician

The successful candidate will have outstanding skills surrounding process equipment, facility maintenance, and HVAC and will be committed to working with others to deliver best in class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.

  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm; various hours may be required based on business demand.

As the Process / Maintenance Tech you will serve as a direct liaison between the scientific community, vendors, and the administration, leveraging demonstrated interpersonal skills to implement creative, inclusive, and cost-effective solutions to repair and maintain lab equipment and other scientific support devices. Within Amentum, our group provides facilities and production maintenance services for our clients’ industrial, manufacturing, distribution, pharmaceutical, and commercial sites worldwide.

As the Process / Maintenance Tech, your daily duties for this role will include:

  • Maintain professional and customer-oriented relationships with team members, internal and external customers and service providers, and building occupants.

  • Provide logistical coordination with other facility partners

  • Maintain proficiency in CMMS work order system to update equipment history and access material inventory management system.

  • Schedule work with Research and Service departments and track and report on the completion of work.

  • This position may perform preventive maintenance, setup, troubleshooting, repairs and modifications of pharmaceutical manufacturing process equipment including associated computerized control systems and supporting equipment. Specific equipment includes but is not limited to tablet presses, capsule fillers, roller-compactors, sorters, blenders, and coaters.

  • This position provides assistance in a research atmosphere or pharmaceutical production, responding to work order requests, troubleshooting and providing PM’s on equipment that support manufacturing

  • Manage a monthly workload and work closely with other I&C technicians and vendors on an as needed basis

  • Lead and complete scheduled work activities such as PM’s, corrective maintenance, calibrations, equipment repair, equipment disassembly and reassembly and troubleshooting on highly automated pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment

  • Demonstrates knowledge of automation equipment and basic knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

  • Provide support and troubleshooting on a wide range of process, facility and automation systems.

  • Participate in new processes to improve efficiency and cost savings.

  • Participate in continuous improvement program to maintain instrument support within a given budget.

  • Identify problems and inefficiencies in processes and methods, with proposed solutions.

  • Maintain GMP compliance for all assigned work.

  • Develop and follow SOPs on maintenance and repair of process equipment, instrumentation, and controls.

  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

  • Respond to emergency calls (by phone or in person) during off-hours and determine resources needed to mitigate problem (Amentum or subcontractor)

  • Provide feedback to the customer on the current state of equipment repairs while assuring compliance to SOP’s, industry standards and codes

  • Assist with coordination of work repairs by other vendors and pharmaceutical equipment supplier

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards.

  • Support safety program as necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

As the Process / Maintenance Tech, you will be expected to:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Five years of experience in business administration, operations support, or a related business support role in a facility management, maintenance planning, engineering, or construction environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in a high visibility customer service role with multiple customer streams.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.

  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

  • Must be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Some physical requirements include:

  • Ability to move light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets, and other storage locations.

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Repetitive wrist movement.

  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

  • Ability to attend meetings throughout the site.

  • Ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.

  • Some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

Pfizer Site Requirement:

All employees and contractors working at a Pfizer site must be fully vaccinated against covid-19 by November 15, 2021 unless there is an approved medical or religious exemption. “Fully vaccinated” is defined as receiving the full dose therapy of an EUA approved covid-19 vaccine and being 14 days post the completion of the required dose regimen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of/experience with maintenance and operation of film coaters, tablet lasers, rotary tablet press, encapsulations, mills, blenders, feeding systems, tablet coater, pan coater, wet granulation load cells, vacuum transfer systems.

  • Experience with GxP compliance in pharmaceutical environment.

  • Knowledgeable on analog and digital control systems and includes microprocessors, electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, and control systems including pressure, temperature and flow sensors with associated alarm circuits.

  • Familiar with dimensional and weight calibrations

  • Ability to read P&ID’s, electrical and control drawings at a component level.

  • Experience handling, operating and storage of metrology equipment used in daily calibration activities.

  • Working knowledge of a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) such as EAMS, MAXIMO, or related database systems.

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Office suite, particularly MS Excel, and Microsoft Visio.
