Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a senior engineer to lead the IT Service Implementation and Transition organization for the SMIT program, supporting the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), the Leidos team will deliver IT services for the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), such transport, storage, email, video teleconferencing, and print services. Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in transforming, modernizing, maintaining, and operating its shore-based networks and data management to improve the efficacy and efficiency of IT services.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead the IT Service Implementation and Transition organization.
Provide vision and leadership resulting in improvement across all NMCI services, specifically through service implementation and transition activities.
Manage day-to-day and long-term activities of a team of engineers to implement new IT services and transition those services to operations.
Oversee engineers performing activities such as Cybersecurity Authorization, Hardware Configuration, Software Development and Support, Verification and Validation Testing, and Installation for new IT services or changes to existing IT services.
Ensure engineers comply with the established ITSM processes.
Ensure high quality results across the teams and across projects.
Engage with the NCMI operations team and involve them in activities of service implementation and service transition.
Interact with project managers to provide service implementation and transition engineers to implement their projects and assist project managers in identifying necessary resources and de-conflicting schedules to utilize those resources across projects.
Direct engineers to ensure progress according to technical objectives within budgetary and schedule guidelines
Provide status of activities within the IT Service Implementation and Transition organization.
Mentor junior engineers
Liaison with customer representatives to collaborate on program/project activities
Basic Qualifications
BS degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of prior relevant experience
U.S. Citizen and DoD Secret Clearance.
Ability to multi-task, self-assign work, and lead a geographically distributed team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership.
Technical knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: hardware configuration, software development and configuration, software and hardware testing, and software and hardware installation.
Knowledge and experience of how to lead teams to implement and transition services utilizing various IT development models and methodologies (e.g. waterfall, Agile, incremental, DevOps, Scrum).
Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments
Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ITIL processes and/or ITIL Foundation V3/4 certification
Experience applying systems engineering fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments
Prior experience with Navy customer
