The Security Detection & Automation (SD&A) business unit currently has an opening for an Aviation Field Service Manager to lead a field service team in support of security & detection equipment for TSA and various commercial customers.

Primary Responsibilities

Ensure the service team adheres to our service contract agreements while communicating and leading the team to achieve our metric goals. Position will require regular interaction with external stakeholders to meet our service contract agreements and assess customer satisfaction. Position includes providing administrative and logistical support to technicians, assessing technician performance, and creating/reviewing service reports.

Specific activities shall include:

-Plan / schedule field service technicians to assigned customer sites.

-Forecast resource requirements.

-Justify additional resources as needed.

-Engage with the service director and human resources to manage employee relation issues.

-Review and approve employee timecards & expense reports weekly.

-Ensure that controls are in place for budget and overtime considerations verify proper project charge codes are being utilized.

-Calculate and report upon technician utilization rates to ensure they are not over / under utilized.

-Ensure the team completes assigned admin tasks such as expense reports within 2 weeks of travel, timecards daily / signed weekly & service contract deliverables to include work orders.

-Audit service performance and identify training requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to pass public trust suitability background check

  • Requires BS and 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience. 9 years of related experience will be considered in lieu of degree

  • 3-5 years experience with installation, performance maintenance, troubleshooting, support and/or end user utilization security detection & automation equipment.

  • Preference for prior management experience in the Aviation, Ports & Borders, or Automation Markets

  • Strong ability to manage in a matrix organization, understanding regional needs and allocating resources based on priorities

  • Ability and drive to motivate and develop direct reports and others

  • Interpersonal savvy in prioritizing customer needs with effective business decisions

  • Create a culture of accountability, while empowering team members

  • Personal sense of integrity and trust

  • Ability to identify, prioritize, and manage critical issues, to avoid escalations/conflicts at a later stage

  • Effective time management skills

  • Ability to translate data into actionable information

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in technical or management or 5 or more combined years of military service or field service management.

Desired Experience:

  • Technical background.

  • Direct experience with non-intrusive inspection equipment.

  • Passed field service experience.
