The Human Health Insights, Analytics and Data (HHIAD) Market Research team develops methods and approaches to drive revenue and/or delivering cost efficiencies through value based insights. The team creates a forward thinking mindset by advocating for the adoption of an outside/in approach to address novel and emerging business challenges by leveraging and reframing methods from other industries, developing partnerships, and implementing innovative approaches to create competitive advantage.

As a strategic partner to the business, the Senior Specialist, Market Research, is responsible for understanding business challenges and managing market research to guide commercial decisions. This position will be responsible for a broad range of research activities, supporting the assigned therapeutic or business area for US & Global markets. This individual is expected to be collaborative and a strong team player, interacting with multiple internal and external groups, to influence decision-making for the teams they support, while working closely with their Team Leader. This role requires understanding of primary market research methodologies, syndicated reports and secondary data that can be leveraged for actionable recommendations.

A successful Senior Specialist will have demonstrated an ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment, while exhibiting a transformational mindset, managing competing priorities, and demonstrating resilience to effectively produce results.

Primary activities may include, but are not limited to:

In collaboration with the Team Leader, the Senior Specialist will manage all aspects of primary market research including:

  • Framing business questions to support team strategy.

  • Developing research/ analysis plans.

  • Drafting requests for proposals and articulation of the hypotheses to be tested.

  • Selecting appropriate agency partners.

  • Managing the research process to deliver an objective understanding of customers, competitors, products and market developments.

  • Adhering to compliance requirements.

  • Managing budgets and modifying plans/ budgets as changing business needs warrant.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Required:  BA/BS

  • Preferred: MBA/MS

Required Experience and Skills:

  • A total of 3 years of relevant work experience in functions including sales, marketing, marketing/sales support, analytics or business analytics/finance.

  • Well-developed analytical skills, strong problem-solving and demonstrated ability to think strategically and objectively.

  • Can apply market research methods and models, is conversant with basic research techniques.

  • Orientation toward collaboration/ teamwork, ability to lead teams in execution of market research, interest in ongoing learning.

  • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively and a strong desire to lead change.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license as travel between sites is expected.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Industry

  • Knowledge of the US Healthcare Environment

  • Knowledge of the HIV market

  • Experience in a large multi-national corporation
