The Patient Service Representative II functions as a member of Centralized Patient Scheduling team and is directed by the department manager or designee. Perform all clerical duties required to complete patient appointment/procedure scheduling, phones, and performs other related activities.

This is a specialist level position and employees at this level are typically assigned to a minimum of four (4) department areas including complex areas requiring in-depth knowledge to patient appointment scheduling. Progression from one level to the next higher level depends, first on the need for a position at the higher level; second on the nature, scope and complexity of the duties assigned, and third, on an employee’s demonstrated and applied knowledge, skills, and abilities.

This position is Per Diem (on call). Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our schedules during our normal business hours. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 3950 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903.

Primary Responsibilities:

Positions in this function are responsible for checking in, scheduling appointments, answering billing questions and managing patient medical records for a clinic. Roles may vary based on the size of the clinic(s).

  • Moderate work experience within own function.
  • Some work is completed without established procedures.
  • Basic tasks are completed without review by others.
  • Supervision/guidance is required for higher level tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Highs School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 3+ years of progressive responsibility and directly related work experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EPIC experience
  • Healthcare background
  • Basic to intermediate skill in word processing
  • Completion of business school or related training, including computer courses
  • Completion of business school or related training, including computer courses

Soft Skills:

  • Typing skills
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact under pressure
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks despite frequent interruptions
  • Ability to speak and write clearly and effectively at a level appropriate for the job
  • Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, hospital staff, physicians, and outside agencies
