Associate Director, Customer and Market Insights (Oncology):
This role is responsible for conceptualizing and executing primary (qualitative and quantitative) and secondary strategic and tactical market research projects and analyses to help drive data-based decision making. The role will be aligned to the US Oncology team focused on solid tumors. Further specialization of activities will include application of insights to inform brand communications for HCPs/patients, development / launch asset planning and brand performance management. An integral member of the team for strategic assessment of launch/brand/portfolio, bringing expertise in Target Product Profile optimization, branding, communication /message testing, forecasting, drivers/barriers, objection handling and integration of primary and secondary insights to track in-market performance.
Key Responsibilities and Major Duties
Provides leadership for Customer Insights efforts, developing and deploying innovative market research techniques that reflect best practices, in order to develop key strategic customer insights and drive superior decision-making
Accurately assesses business issues faced by the tumor team and develops the appropriate market research design to address them, providing superior analysis and reasoned solutions
Synthesizes data from multiple sources to bring added value to research studies, then draws and communicates customer insights in a business-oriented, concise and meaningful way to be delivered to the business team
Consistently develops and recommends reasonable, data-driven business-building ideas and encourages the use of customer and market insights to inform business decisions
Demonstrates mastery of primary research designs and analysis, and independently develops customized non-standard research solutions to address complex, multi-faceted tactical and strategic business issues
Understands complex clinical and scientific data and is able to integrate that understanding into the brand insights.
Develops Market Research plans aligned to business need through collaboration with Oncology BI&A and brand teams, creating synergies and eliminating duplication
List of minimum requirements
Bachelor’s degree in General Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Market Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Social Science, or other Scientific degrees, or related field required
Advanced degree preferred
Competencies – knowledge, skills, abilities and other
5 + years of relevant market research experience
Pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred; therapeutic category knowledge for relevant job scope strongly desired.
Recent launch experience of innovative pharmaceutical brand in the US market highly desirable.
Ability to clearly understand and utilize complex clinical and medical information as it pertains to integrating into market insights
Expertise in branding, communication /message testing, drivers/barriers, objection handling research in preparation for launching a new medicine in an innovative category
Understanding of demand studies used for forecasting new product launches
Demonstrated understanding of developing and deploying market performance metrics (KPI’s)
Experience in the key functional areas of market research, including design and analysis of primary market research, secondary data analysis and some experience with forecasting/modeling, required
Demonstrated ability to lead a team, provide direction and oversight, and motivate others
Proven ability to effectively operate and influence cross-functionally and be a team player
Strong technical understanding of marketing research models and deep knowledge and experience across multiple complex research tools
Concise and impactful written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a face-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high quality business results within tight deadlines
