What you’ll be doing...

The position will play a critical role in influencing the roadmap for device technology and enhancing the customer experience. This position is a unique opportunity to work in Device Technology as subject matter expert in the Core Service suite of wireless/wireline products including IMS, RCS, VoNR/VoLTE, VoWiFi, Video Calling and OneTalk. The position will be responsible for developing new products, supporting marketing and product development in device integration, and also performing trial work to certify new technologies.

  • Leads device requirements and test plan development for IMS, VoLTE/VoNR and RCS services for wireless and wireline platforms
  • Plans 2-3 year technology roadmap with a focus on device driven technologies.
  • Follows and understands technology trends and perform competitive analysis to help formulate the vision and influence the device technology roadmap.
  • Prototypes, trials and deliver proof of concepts for emerging technologies or initiatives.
  • Develops and delivers device requirements to ensure a successful integration and launch of new products within the core services suite.
  • Works closely with the OEMs to ensure seamless delivery of core products.
  • Owns post launch issues that require requirements revision or testing.
  • Owns the documentation to support the product beginning with Marketing Service Requirements and ending with device / service launch.
  • Supports launch strategies including alignment to marketing objectives, training requirements, standard customer service levels, technical support requirements, and related procedures.
  • Identifies areas of opportunity for new products and enhancements of existing products.
  • Participates in standards, evaluates impacts and influences standards to meet Verizon short and long term core services objectives.
  • Regularly engages with the field to keep a pulse on new technologies or opportunities.
  • Negotiates contracts with vendors for new applications and services, driving contracts to completion with sourcing partners.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Sixor more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with requirements and test plan development, device testing
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s in Engineering, Computer Science.
  • Experience with product development life cycle from inception to launch.
  • Two or more years of experience in real-time VoIP, RCS and associated protocols – SIP, SDP, RTP, RTCP, UDP, TCP/IP, MSRP.
  • Experience with LTE/5G and GSMA/3GPP standards.
  • Experience with device testing, automation, debugging and performing log analysis using Wireshark or other protocol analyzers.
  • Strong written/verbal communications and presentation skills.
  • Forward thinker; willing to take on special projects/ new initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, simultaneously on multiple projects with cross-functional teams and ability to reach consensus.
  • Knowledge and working experience with IMS/VoIP/Video Calling/Presence/RCS Chat and LTE related 3GPP specs.
  • Experience with designing and delivering radio access network solutions in collaboration with multi-functional teams.
  • Experience as a system developer, integrator, problem investigator, or system engineer.
  • Knowledge of Android and iOS OS platforms.
  • Experience in writing technical requirements / test plans / procedures.
  • Experience in vendor and project management.
