What you’ll be doing...

We promise our customers the most reliable coverage across the country, and you’ll make sure we deliver on that promise. You’ll be a technical leader and authority in network performance for a large geographic area, proactively identifying new ways to improve speed and quality, and helping to resolve our most complex problems. We’ve got a growing customer base using more devices every day, and their expectations are high—you’ll play a key role in making sure they’re never disappointed.

The engineer is ideally located within the footprint of existing Verizon Ericsson coverage. The Post-GA Centralized Service Performance team is a team with an often changing and wide range of responsibilities and opportunities. Our primary mission is to assist sub-markets in network optimization by leveraging the work of multiple sub-markets, communicating and assisting in investigations, and investigating/escalating multi-sub-market issues. The responsibilities for this role include both national and Ericsson-specific items. They include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide CBRS and LAA performance guidance (National).
  • Direct and design eNodeB, gNodeB parameter trials, analyze nationwide adoption by all sub-markets.
  • Help sub-markets monitor their adoption of key recommendations and initiatives.
  • Document key knowledge in the shared environment of gSuites, NCT, and Slack.
  • Develop and support VSON algorithms.
  • Prepare sub-markets for upcoming eNodeB SW releases or any other upcoming activity that may result in KPI impact.
  • Train sub-market engineers on new functionalities and technologies (e.g. Nationwide 5G, Midband and SA 5G, Dedicated NR, etc).
  • Analyze 3rd party drive results, identify trends, and make recommendations as needed.

***This role can be located out of any US based Verizon hub locations.***

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’re a technical expert and a self-starter who encourages team members and business partners to exceed expectations. You constantly see through the eyes of a customer, and you bring that perspective to everything you do. Your natural curiosity drives you to track down problems and collaborate with others to develop solutions.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • An engineering degree.
  • Strong and proven presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to communicate to large (100+) audiences via periodic conference calls.
  • Expertise in 5G NW, UWB, and C-band.
  • Expertise in LTE, VoLTE, and 5Gfunctionality and messaging (RRC setup, handover, carrier aggregation).
  • Expertise on LTE advanced functions and what it takes to get to 1Gbps DL speeds.
  • Proficiency in all of RTT, ALPT, ELPT, NCWS, DMAT, TrueCall.
  • Strong relationships with at least one submarket Ericsson SP team.
  • Expertise in Ericsson RAN equipment and database parameters.
  • Expertise in Ericsson RAN O&M interface.
  • Existing strong relationship with any of the Centralized Service Performance team.
  • Strong relationships with Centralized Service Performance teams, Maintenance Engineering team, planning team, and/or VSON team.
  • Ability and willingness to teach a large or small audience.
  • Capability to listen to different viewpoints and look at data to come to unbiased conclusions on recommendations.
  • Out-of-the-box thinker, challenging the status quo (parameters, design).
  • Supporter of automation. Ideally some automation background like a scripting language, Excel macros, or Tableau.
  • Ability to lead RAN issue investigations and bring in and direct resources (local team, HQ, vendors) as needed.
