Job Description:

Leidos has an opening for a Research Operations and Integration (ROI) Ground Support Personnel (GSP) Technical Trainer. The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and maintaining training requirements and plans for all ROI positions, including those supporting the Human Research Facility (HRF) racks on the International Space Station (ISS); the Human Exploration Research Analog (HERA); and others as requested by ROI management. The Trainer acts as the coach and mentor for new employees and assists them in onboarding and completing their ROI GSP training. The ROI GSP Trainer also provides input into the readiness of crew training instructors and console operators for certification. The GSP Trainer works with the Simulation Coordinator to ensure the validity of simulation (sim) content and the readiness of the sim participants toward console certification. This position also coordinates training for ISS crew members participating in ROI experiments and hardware activities and acts as a liaison with the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSCF) Crew Training Coordinators to schedule and coordinate crew training sessions and determine the best approach to training crew members.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains training requirements and plans for all ROI GSP positions

  • Assesses readiness of crew training instructors and console operators for certification

  • Provides training discipline expertise to determine best approach for training crewmembers

  • Works closely with the Simulation Coordinator to ensure the validity of simulation content and the readiness of the simulation participants toward console certification

  • Coordinates crew training sessions by ensuring experiment team instructors, facilities, hardware, and test subjects are ready for training sessions

  • Develops and maintains web-based training tools and plans

  • Assists new employees in onboarding and completing their ROI GSP training plan

  • Serves as a liaison with the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSCF) Crew Training Coordinators to schedule and coordinate ROI crew training sessions

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in training, education, or a technical field and at least 2 years relevant experience

  • Familiarity with teaching/training methods and philosophies

  • Excellent oral/written communication and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to learn, use, and develop learning tools in a technical environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous console operations experience;

  • Familiarity with Human Life Science goals, objectives and processes

Must be able to pass a Public Trust background investigation. U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residence is required due to length of investigation required for non-U.S. persons.
