Job Description

Our Animal Health Marketing team takes a customer centric perspective using customer feedback and market intelligence data. Using this data, we design, develop and deploy products, platforms, brands and marketing initiatives that ensure we can improve the health and well-being of animals everywhere.

The Associate Director of Strategic Development and Innovation (SDI) – Training and Development will report to the Director of SDI CA & Equine. This individual will play a critical role, working collaboratively with other SDI Associate Directors (who support our current portfolio and new product launches and develop the Master technical presentations for the veterinarian) to develop the ‘next tier’ training for internal and external stakeholders that include field sales teams, internal marketing teams, Corporate Account Managers, Distribution and key customer accounts. Another critical responsibility will be the ability to respond appropriately and quickly with audience appropriate messaging to challenging Competitive Intelligence regarding our competitors.

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for working closely with the SDI team, CA&E PSV, Sales and PV teams, CA&E Marketing, Regulatory and Legal, CAM and Distribution to insure training is delivered in a timely fashion to support our existing portfolio and new product launches / acquisitions. This individual, together with other members of the SDI team, will be involved in helping plan the “go to market strategies” for commercialization and delivery of products for the US CA&E commercial operations

  • Utilizes significant depth of veterinary technical knowledge and experience in adult training to develop short, mid, and long-term training strategies to meet the needs of our commercial teams.

  • Works closely with SDI, Competitive Intelligence, TM, PSV, and Marketing teams monitor market trends and provide timely responses in support of our portfolios. Will be responsible for developing time-sensitive internal training material on competitor products.

  • Uses SDI Master technical presentations to create separate training materials for field sales teams, internal marketing teams and Distribution teams

  • Assists other SDI Associate Directors with processing and translation of data from MSS and CORE studies into audience appropriate presentations

  • Participates on an as-needed basis in PIT calls for late-stage products

  • The travel requirements for this position are estimated at 20 – 40% of the time. Travel responsibilities will be prioritized by project value and will be domestic.

The focus of this position is strategic and cross-functional with a focus on developing and executing training programs for internal and external stakeholders responsible for the commercial success of our entire companion animal (and equine) portfolio of products and services. The position requires a leader with excellent communication, organization, project management and presentation skills and experience in adult learning.

Background & Education:

  • Must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience in the Animal Health Industry and at least 3 years in clinical practice experience

  • Must have at least 3 years’ of experience and demonstrated skills in development presentation of technical material for a variety of veterinary audiences

  • Strategically minded and visionary thinker

  • Strong veterinary background in internal medicine and parasitology

  • Balanced ability to collaborate and influence across multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including highly effective presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to draw appropriate and scientifically balanced conclusions from reports/data, and analyses to support product recommendations

  • Must be able to plan and coordinate strategic project activities, collaborating with other stakeholders to maximize team’s results

  • Demonstrated deep understanding of customers’ and internal stakeholders’ needs, requirements, and expectations to continuously seek new ways to improve the delivery of time-appropriate training in support of existing and new products and services

  • Skilled at developing strong networks and relationships across functions and other organizational boundaries

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
