Job Description

New hires in Non-Field based roles in the U.S. & Puerto Rico will be required, subject to applicable law, to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption to this vaccination requirement that can be accommodated without an undue burden to the operation. Our Medical Affairs team advances patient care by engaging in scientific exchange with external medical experts and industry professionals ensuring the scientific value of our products is realized. We engage and train internal employees to ensure that they thoroughly comprehend the science behind the medicine and review further unmet medical needs to bolster collaboration and further differentiate our portfolio.

The Associate Director (AD), Global Professional Relation and Independent Medical Education is primarily responsible for planning, managing, and facilitating relationships with professional societies, including assessment and monitoring of independent continuing medical educational (CME) and non-CME activities.

  • This individual may act in a primary liaison function to national medical and scientific organizations.

Responsibilities and Primary Activities:

  • Support innovative, independently created medical education that is aligned with our TA priorities to advance HCP knowledge, skills, competence, and performance to improve patient care and outcomes

  • Liaison and build trust with priority professional societies and organizations.

  • Initiates and manages the development, delivery, and outcome metrics of independent educational programming that includes activities at professional society meetings, standalone educational activities, and emerging technological approaches using adult-learning principles

  • Prepares, negotiates, obtains, and monitors operating budget for approved programs, including professional society, patient advocacy, and continuing medical education (CME) activities

  • Maintains appropriate processes and financial controls to ensure completion of programs within established budgets

  • Maintains knowledge of organizational strategic focus, inter-departmental activities, current clinical and scientific concepts, internal and external governing policies, and adult-learning modalities in medical education, contract negotiation and interpretation, budget and project management, and vendor management

  • Identifies and upholds compliant best practices to support long-term professional organization relationships through programs and activities of mutual interest

  • Ensures compliance with existing internal and external guidelines as they pertain to professional relations, patient advocacy, and independent medical education, as well as our Company's internal standards based on its interpretation of the applicable laws and regulations

  • This role covers activities within the General Medicine Therapeutic Area

Minimum Education Requirement:

  • BA/BS degree

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or with professional medical organizations

  • Demonstrates good business acumen, interpersonal skills, influence, communication, planning and organizational skills, and teamwork

  • Experience applying adult-learning principles, and assessing IME against the levels of Moore’s Outcomes of Knowledge and Practice Gaps

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • MBA, PhD, or credentialed healthcare professional degree (PharmD, NP, PA)

  • Previous external-facing position

  • Experience in one or more therapeutic areas that has company supported IME
