Linux Support Engineer

As a Linux Support Engineer you are going to be part of the Product Support team that maintains good client relationships by assisting and managing Linux technical issues related to our discovery and migration product.

Work you'll do

You will have calls with customers to assist them on issues with Linux that they get while using our discovery and migration products. You will also assist them on issues they might get while migrating servers to any cloud, virtual, or physical environment.

You will be responsible for managing a queue of issues and providing responses and resolutions in a timely manner. You will review the issue, troubleshoot, provide updates, and when code/bug fixes are needed, connect with product development to inform them of the changes required.

You will also need to assist the sales team on questions related to Linux and advise them on architecture decisions and the best approaches to use the product, as well as provide technical documentation to be included in sales collateral.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years' experience on system administration on all major Linux distributions
    • Understanding of kernel concepts (filesystems, virtual memory, sockets)
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills of boot and network problems.
  • Understanding of ticket management systems, preferably JIRA
  • Proficiency on public cloud providers services: AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud, etc.
  • Experience running Linux servers in a VMware environment
  • SAN technology, Linux Volume Manager/Filesystems, Multi-pathing
  • Networking concepts - LACP, VLAN tagging, etc
  • Understanding of SQL
  • Customer service and support experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Preferred certifications:
  • Linux (RHCE or LFCE)
  • Cloud (AWS Solutions Architect or SysOps/DevOps)

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
