We are currently seeking a Principal Engineer, Platform System Design Engineering located in Weston, Florida.

What you will do:

  • Work on the system aspects of the Mako 3 robotic system platform.
  • Lead design initiatives to modify the robotic system and components, including hardware, software, and firmware while meeting company quality expectations for effectiveness, reliability, and safety.
  • Interact with internal customers and marketing to draft/update customer, system, and subsystem requirements.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, software, and system engineers to ensure that the system and subsystems designs meet specified requirements.
  • Analyze system and subsystems requirements to ensure they are clear and verifiable and that traceability of requirements is accurately captured and documented.
  • Handle post-market complaints for the robotic system hardware and software.
  • Collaborate in the development and execution of plans, protocols, and reports for verification and validation (V&V).
  • Use common software tools, such as SolidWorks for CAD/CAM, Minitab for statistical analysis, and MATLAB for analysis through scripting.
  • Apply FDA regulatory guidance, such as ISO 13485 / 14971 / 62304, to biomedical device development.
  • Participate in engineering labs for determining product requirements and for V&V activities.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance in analysis for the device risk management file, including failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and fault tree analysis (FTA).
  • Collaborate with technical writers to create and revise documentation.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Minimum of (7+) years’ professional experience in systems design or related field, preferably for biomedical device development.
  • Demonstrated experience with design controls.
  • System integration and verification experience.
  • Complaint handling experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with each of the following types of software:
    • Requirements management tool, such as JAMA, Integrity, or DOORS.
    • 3D CAD/CAM software, such as Solidworks or Creo, etc.
    • Scripting and analysis using MATLAB or Python, etc.
    • Statistical analysis with Minitab, etc.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Medical device development experience is preferred.
