The primary function of this position will be to support the administration of FE’s, Substation Asset Management tool, (Cascade) with emphasis on representing AMRC data systems’ interests to Transmission Data Governance project. Duties will include but not limited to technical validation of Transmission Data Governance directives (Element and attribute definitions, data quality rule implementations, data analysis) as well as in-depth Transmission Data Governance Data quality score investigations and communicating the ensuring results with appropriate recommendations. Active participation as member of the Transmission Data Stewards Committee is also required. In additional to Cascade, the position will also have responsibility to have a complete understanding of the other AMRC data systems (Powerbase, OTCM, Asset Health) to evaluate impacts of future data integration needs.
This position provides the successful candidate with growth opportunities in a number of technologies related to substations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers and the community based upon knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations/requirements.
- Utilize project management skills for projects relating to the Cascade Asset Management Tool. Such projects include, but are not limited to, interfacing to other systems/tools, (such as SAP, OTCM, Asset Health Center, Work Management Initiative (WMI) tools, & Transmission Oil Analysis), system upgrades, & substation improvement initiatives.
- Supporting configuration of Cascade to support regulatory compliance activities.
- Provide support for Pre and Post Energization checklist/checkout needs.
- Working and networking with utility peers to determine best practices and to identify and support Cascade development and enhancements with the Cascade vendor.
- Identify and record requirements for all aspects of the Transmission Data Governance program.
- Support analysis of data issues, rule interpretations and modifications to the Data Governance Framework
- Create use cases and test cases to support Transmission Data Governance operations.
- Participate in the Weekly Transmission Data Governance Warehouse support and status meetings.
- Conducting technical research and analyzing highly complex data; Interpreting results; Providing recommendations to high-level solutions
- Recommending and implementing technical solutions to complex issues and assignments
- Independently anticipating and meeting internal/external technical needs
- Assist in the development and documentation of process improvements and efficiencies to improve work products.
- Provide a high level of customer service, continuous support, and proactive involvement to leadership and fellow peers surrounding technical subject matter.
- Providing support to FEU personnel on information and /or reports related to Substation Assets
- Provide advice, education, and encouragement to others.
- Provide assistance during emergencies and storm related activities.
Qualifications at the Engineer III level include:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required. Acceptable alternatives are: (1) a Professional Engineer’s (PE) License (2) a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field of study (non-ABET) plus an advanced degree in Engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program, or a P.E. License.
- A Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certificate is preferred.
- Position level requires minimum of 3 years of professional engineering experience.
- Advanced degree a plus.
- Understanding of substations and substation devices preferred
- Project Management experience preferred
- Familiarity with substation maintenance practices preferred
- Must be able to read and understand substation one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams and bills of material.
- Strong analytical and technical abilities
- Ability to analyze large datasets
- Working knowledge of Cascade, PowerBase, EDOA, TAMI, CrossBow, CREWS, SAP, QlikView, PowerBI, SQL and querying tools (i.e. Toad) is a plus.
- Knowledge of network communications devices and architecture is preferred.
- Familiarity working with databases is preferred.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word. SAP a plus

- Ability to model active learning through continuing to develop breadth of knowledge, skills, and perspective.
