J ob Summary:

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking candidates to support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, TN. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance customer's core mission. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from customer staff and procedures. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.

Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives technical direction in the form of moderate supervision.
  • Support the construction of the Y-12 Mercury Treatment Facility.
  • Performs Field Engineering assignments of a varied nature requiring a full working knowledge of Field Engineering practices.
  • Provide technical field support to craft and construction supervision, including generation of Field Change Requests, Nonconformance Reports, and Requests for Information.
  • Perform constructability evaluations, scoping of work packages in coordination with field supervision, perform planning activities to include scoping walkdowns, Job Hazard Analysis walkdowns, and work package preparation.
  • Support Subcontractor implementation of field activities in coordination with Subcontractor Technical Representative,
  • Assure procedural compliance, material control, and complete and thorough documentation of inspections for completed work.
  • Directs or performs preparation of quantity listings of field purchased material and equipment. Coordinates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Performs preparation of construction drawings and schedules.
  • Performs design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of as-built drawings and other job plans.
  • Assists subordinate field engineers and superintendents in interpreting design drawings, monitoring equipment installation, planning for delivery of construction materials and equipment, and assuring that proper warehousing and storage exists to ensure compliance with vendor requirements and provision of required environmental protection.
  • Reviews specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data to assist and advise on site.
  • Coordinates with Design Engineering as needed to resolve field-related issues.
  • Assists with preparation and tracking of work order development in support of assigned field activities.
  • Prepares, monitors field progress, revises if needed, and closes work packages.
  • Leads effective, results driven planning meetings.
  • Assists in preparing work documents authorizing maintenance and calibration.
  • Assists in prioritizing estimates and establishing man hours needed for work package development.
  • Supports miscellaneous and work control planning activities as required by manager.
  • Completes work assignments with a high level of quality and personal accountability, displaying strong skills in teamwork, communication, and building relationships.
  • Exercises professional judgment within the framework of broad guidelines provided by superiors.
  • May have responsibility to provide direction to less experienced field engineers, or office technical or clerical personnel.
  • May specialize in a single field or area or assume a lead role in a specific segment of a construction project.
  • Performs assigned duties relating to all activities within a single discipline and interfacing with related tasks being performed in more than one discipline.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience required. Work Planning and Field Engineering experience required.
