What you will do:

The Engineer, CAD/CAE Engineering is required to create and modify Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and drawings to support new product development, product sustainability, and cross-functional design communication. The incumbent will utilize CAD and PLM software to support on-going projects by working in cooperation with product development engineers and other cross-functional personnel. The individual will assist in transforming concepts into feasible designs, designing multiple parts from a single design concept, working out the details of a design concept while following engineering change control procedures. This person is a key liaison between the incumbent's department and other functions involved in the product development or engineering change process. This position may also train entry level drafters and assists other departments on CAD, PLM, or ECR/ECN matters. Strong customer focus, flexibility to operate within a dynamic change environment, and excellent communication and collaboration skills is an absolute must.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design/Develop and create 3D parametric models of medical device components from proof of concept to production ready designs, including DFM considerations.

  • Create 2D drawings and print packages of medical device assemblies and components per appropriate ASME drawing standards.

  • Create models and drawings for conceptual, prototype, or production purposes.

  • Create moderate to complex models, assemblies, and associated print packages.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple high priority projects and tasks to meet print release deadlines.

  • Assist R&D Engineers with product ideation and development.

  • Train, support, mentor, or resolve questions, issues, or concerns related to PLM, CAD, or ECR/ECNs.

What you Need:

  • BS in Engineering, Mechanical Design/Drafting, related field, or Associate's degree with 6+ years of equivalent experience required.

  • 0+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting required (medical device industry preferred). ADDA mechanical drafter certification, or willingness to obtain certification, is required.

  • Strong working knowledge of ERP, PLM, and CAD software, solid modeling, mechanical drafting, interpretation and application of ASME standards (namely Y14.5), and a fundamental knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning &Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Proficient at creating detailed mechanical drawings for components and assemblies per ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.

  • Computer and Microsoft Office applications experience.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
