PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • Is accountable to plan and maintain the base operating system, core application suite and related services
  • Works with suppliers and service providers to deliver high level services as outline by contracted guidelines (i.e. Microsoft, Lenovo, Dell, Apple, etc.)
  • Provides hands on development, standardization, of all client end user compute images, software deployment, and patching standards and deployments.
  • Customizes and maintains existing SCCM deployment packages and desktop Application packages as well as Interacts with incident, problem and change management to answer questions, problems and requests regarding system issues.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manages SCCM Operating System Deployment (OSD) implementation
  • Manages WSUS SCCM Software Update Point
  • Prepares statistical reports
  • Consults with third party vendors to obtain support, make recommendations, schedule work orders, and assist customer with their requests
  • Documents or revises user and technician training manuals and procedures
  • Packages, tests and deploys automated desktop application installations within a SCCM framework
  • Creates collections and advertisements for mass software distribution
  • Develops and executes enterprise workstation imaging and deployment methodologies
  • Develops and executes methodologies for increasing infrastructure optimization and standardization
  • Ensures correct installation, configuration, use, and maintenance of the Microsoft SCCM Platform
  • Manages Microsoft Intune MDM
  • Technical understanding of Azure AD
  • Assists in developing and maintaining group policy
  • Manages deployment of all patches, critical updates and service packs on a timely basis
  • Maintains ongoing communications with support teams regarding application issue resolution and general workstation management support
  • Provides mentoring, guidance, and professional development support to others on staff
  • Thorough technical understanding of Desktop Operating Systems (functions, features, Configurations, Imaging, Operations, BitLocker), Workstation Hardware for provisioning requirements, Workstation Networking requirements, Active Directory and Services requirements (Including GPO’s, DNS, DHCP)
  • Technical understanding of Application packaging (Admin Studio and SMS Installer), SCCM application wrapping, application virtualization and scripting (VBS, PowerShell, BAT, etc.)
  • Assists in influencing decisions regarding policies and procedures, research, planning, and development activities
  • Manages 3rd party vendors to ensure that services are designed, delivered and sustained to provide their intended and required functionality (Workstation hardware, base operating system, core application suite and related services) to meet business
  • Integrate new workstation services and service enhancements to meet changing business needs.
  • Develop service improvement plans and roadmaps for workstation Operating systems, core applications and related services.
  • Develop and maintain a product (end user compute) evolution roadmap, which includes Maintain Industry awareness for effectiveness in product selection/evaluation
  • Partner with other leaders across the organization and champion the day-to-day operation, continuous improvement.
  • Assist with where necessary to drive root cause analysis and corrective action across IS (provide Level 3 support, participate on Level 3 on call rotation)
  • Help eliminate disruption of services and improve day-to-day operations using validated problem analysis and tracking all elements of the RCA to closure
  • Work closely with Enterprise Security
  • Provides functional, non-functional, and technical analysis related to the design, development and implementation of software systems
  • Provide support to project teams throughout project lifecycles and captures specific project requirements which can be used to design, develop and implement solutions
  • Coordinates and Facilitates test plans. Ensures all test cases are successfully completed and documented and that the solution is ready for release into a production environment
  • Coordinates & Facilitates training. Ensuring appropriate training & training materials are provided to end user and sustainment support teams
  • Manages Privilege access policies through Beyond Trust

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree or equivalent in Commerce/Business Administration, Engineering or Computer Science. An advanced degree (education) is an asset
  • Relevant railway industry and railway application experience is an asset
  • 10+ years' experience implementing/managing workstation and server management platforms, OS image deployment and maintenance, software and patch deployment, and related technologies
  • Experience with OSD, SQL, SUP, SCCM deployment and packaging Scripting knowledge
  • Experience in a broad base of technical management (certifications or equivalent experience is desirable)
  • Microsoft, Suite of applications, Desktop hardware and services, VDI solutions, understanding of Active directory and organizational units
  • Experience with monitoring of ticketing system, prioritizing problems, supporting projects, and supporting enterprise level infrastructure
  • Experience working with CMDB / inventory / asset Management, supporting client hardware (workstations, laptops, printers, and other equipment)
  • Experience installing, patching/maintaining, and troubleshooting applications and operating systems
  • Must be able to work autonomously and independently with minimal guidance
  • Experience collaborating on enterprise level projects
  • Experience working with company documentation and storage procedures
  • Experience working with complex system implementations and organizational processes
