Senior Scientist I: Protein Engineering<br>6000! That’s the number of associates in the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. NIBR Biologics Center (NBC) builds the biologics pipeline in collaboration with NIBR Disease Areas (DA) and Platforms to create innovative biotherapeutics that can improve lives of patients. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Senior Scientist to join the Bio-therapeutic Engineering and Gene Therapy (BEGT) unit within the NBC in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The BEGT group drives a diverse portfolio of biologics drug discovery programs including various protein modalities, gene and cell therapies through novel vector engineering and structure-based rational design. In this role, you will have opportunity to learn new and cutting edge technologies and grow your career in Novartis and in the pharmaceutical industry. <br><br><br>Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:<br>• Implement state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools, structural modelling and structure-based rational design approaches to improve functional and biophysical properties of proteins, peptides, and other novel biologics modalities to support biologics discovery programs<br>• Design and conduct experiments to express, purify and characterize engineered protein variants <br>• Interpret and present data and findings in internal project meetings <br>• Communicate efficiently and represent protein engineering group in cross-functional team<br>• Support other research activities within group as needed
