Summary Statement:

The IT Manager will be responsible for developing maintenance and growth plans, creating annual and project budgets, managing the IT staff and keeping the executive team up to date on the latest technologies that could help the company to succeed.

You will be working with and innovating Penske's cutting edge Microsoft Server and Storage environments with a team of industry leading experts. Key technology elements include: Microsoft AD, vSphere, VxRail HCI, Data Domain, SAN, PowerMax, vRealize & Logic Monitor

What you will be doing:

As a Penske Manager of IT Engineering - Microsoft Server and Storage you will lead the Microsoft Server and Storage teams and support staff through a diverse range of projects. You will be responsible for the reliability, performance, recoverability, and security of the corporate Microsoft Server and Storage environment and the underlying team that manages and supports the environment. You will be keeping Penske updated with the latest technology and knowledge from the industry and implementing these changes across the whole company.

Penske Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization systems standards
  • Managing a staff, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, and associate performance. Responsibility for team results.
  • Completes projects by coordinating resources
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights
  • Responsible for the reliability, performance, recoverability, and security of the corporate Microsoft Server and Storage environment and the underlying team that manages and supports the environment.
  • Daily operational oversight of all team resources, design, configuration, implementation, support, troubleshooting, maintenance, performance monitoring and the development of specialized procedures relating to the use of the corporate computing environment.
  • Lead the Microsoft Server and Storage Engineering teams and support staff.
  • Mentor and direct their staff in design and deployment of complex tools/technology and will work closely with technical staff on best practice development and implementation.
  • Ensure the functional and cost effectiveness and timely support of the supported systems on a 24x7 basis.
  • Analyze system or application usage and plan for growth and provide projections for business plan
  • Manage resource planning on a continual basis to ensure the proper balance of design, implementation, and support resources
  • Install, configure, and operationalize Microsoft Server and Storage infrastructure to support business processing requirements.
  • Assess need for any system reconfigurations and execute them if required.
  • Research and implement new open-source and commercial tools, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Participate and lead architecture workshops.
  • Leverage your day-to-day experiences to provide the voice of the customer to internal teams.
  • Analyze and recommend changes to improve efficiency, lower costs, and enhance quality of business applications
  • Serve as thought leader and final decision maker able to drive team to conclusions regarding technical solutions
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field required. If no degree, then at least 5 years of information technology management experience required.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience highly preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of system architectures
  • Expert level MS Server OS / Middleware / Storage skills
  • VMware vSphere virtual environment expertise
  • Experience with Dell VxRail HCI platform
  • Strong problem solving, and communication skills required
  • Experience with or knowledge of current equipment and technologies
  • Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing
  • Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems
  • Windows systems both on premise and AZURE
  • Support of applications running in a Windows Environment
  • Replication and recovery techniques
  • Backup, Cyber recovery, & data retention experience needed
  • Experience leading teams, projects and architecting solutions
  • Experience writing test specifications and understand the fundamentals of test automation
  • Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment
  • Previous leadership responsibility or experience
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and understand the engineering and/or development process from ideation through execution
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
