Key Responsibilities

  • Function as an Automation Hardware Engineer and support the operation of all GMP and non-GMP control systems, and other auxiliary equipment at the Devens Biologics and Cell Therapy Facilities.­
  • Participate in cross functional teams to solve operational issues and develop lasting countermeasures.
  • Participate as an individual contributor on larger Process Automation System projects, or projects with a significant automation component.
  • Provide troubleshooting and guidance support to automation systems team, in support of Manufacturing.
  • Provide on-call support for PAS, BAS & other control systems along with other team members.
  • Work with all departments and with all levels of the organization, specifically Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing Operations.
  • Exercise sound judgement in making decisions and recommendations with generally defined practices and policies and notify management when necessary.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Working knowledge of the creating, control and markup of engineering documentation such as P&IDs, Loop Diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Process Automation & Control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces.
  • Explains own work clearly and confidently.
  • Requires significant knowledge of the principles and concepts of a discipline typically gained through a university degree and 2-4 years of experience or HS diploma/technical school and relevant certifications plus 4 years of experience.
  • Works predominately within established procedures. Actively participates in troubleshooting of routine problems. Makes decisions that impact own work and other groups/teams. Works under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates awareness of functional business context and the impact on their own work
  • Demonstrates openness to learning and developing. Takes a responsibility for their own development and growth.​
  • Openly considers new ways and solutions to enhance their own work and offers new ideas/continuous improvement.​
  • Demonstrates an understanding of factors driving team performance and how they contribute to the team's overall success. ​
  • Collects and reviews data sources to provide a sound recommendation.​ Identifies basic implications from a logical analysis of a routine situation or issue. Determines most appropriate solution.
