What You Will Do:

The Staff-level Electrical Engineer will play a key role in developing the security and software infrastructure to support the Stryker Sustainability reprocessing business. The Electrical Engineer will interface with project teams and other key functional groups to ensure that electrical and software/security needs of internal stakeholders are met for new and existing reprocessed medical device products.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Experience in PCB design & development process and associated tools & functional verification
  • Understanding of different component parameters and their technical significance.
  • Develop and apply Microcontroller, Microprocessor and FPGA based circuits design & development tools
  • Proficiency in the hardware, software and troubleshooting techniques used to develop and debug communication interfaces (wired and wireless) with security features enabled.
  • Understanding of design and operation of various non-volatile and volatile memory devices (e.g. EEPROM, FLASH, ROM, RAM, etc.).
  • Translate user needs to design inputs/specifications and produce advanced component and sub-system level designs.
  • Develop and apply advanced circuit and electrical system test methods.
  • Conduct or design advanced prototyping and testing.
  • Independently balance design tradeoffs while designing a component of the system.
  • Analyze and correct complex product design issues, using independent judgment.
  • Good understanding of Product Security domain and associated tools used in hardware penetration testing.

Business Responsibilities:

  • Advance solutions by applying in-depth knowledge of customer needs, market and competitive offerings.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of clinical procedures to author design inputs.
  • Support Voice of Customer sessions internally and with clinicians.
  • Demonstrate developing financial acumen.
  • Align dedicated and shared resources cross-functionally to optimize to ensure achievement of business results and to acquire and develop middle to junior level resources, as needed.
  • Work with global team partners to develop reprocessing solutions.

Med Device Compliance:

  • Be proficient with and mentor others in usage of industry standards, including design requirements and test strategies per applicable regulations.
  • Lead creation and refinement of engineering documentation, such as the Design History file.
  • Follow and mentor others on R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success as a leader on the team and to inform on upcoming milestones and risks/issues.

  • Manage pipeline for hardware design, development & testing of multiple projects
  • Proven records in verification of systems, software applications with different hardware components
  • Good knowledge of setting up of hardware test environment for V&V activities
  • Experience working with other cross-functional and architecture teams across locations to ensure product architectures conform to the core technology strategy, including technology selection, use of common platform infrastructure

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of related work experience
  • Advanced understanding of electrical components and manufacturing methods including common failure modes.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and test electrical designs.
  • Working knowledge of the electrical design process.
  • Proficiency in the use of CAD and/or other circuit design and analysis tools to design.
  • Proficiency in the development and analysis of software and hardware associated with embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of the cybersecurity impacts of technologies and techniques to minimize attack vectors.
  • Strong board level troubleshooting skills and understanding of hardware-software interaction
  • Understanding of various RF protocol communication standards (e.g. ISO 15693, etc.).
  • Experience of working with multi-tiered software application Design & Development
  • Knowledge of standard technologies used in industry.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze system drawings with basic Mechanical/Software/Electrical Interactions.
  • Knowledge of sub-system, system, and environmental interactions and how to design to them.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understands the advanced theory and methods of electronics design and manufacturing and can apply them independently while demonstrating:
  • Hands on with lab equipment like DSO, Logic analyzer, Function generator, etc.
  • Experience with hardware simulation software (SPICE, etc.)
  • Knowledge in MATLAB, Python, LINUX/UNIX operating systems, database management, EMC / EMI Testing, and Familiarity with Medical standards & FDA requirements.
  • Experience in medical device domain
  • Well versed with writing test plans and test cases document and exposure to test management tools (JIRA, etc.)
