Job Summary

Amentum is actively seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician / Junior Engineer to work in Code 262 at SWRMC in San Diego, CA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance and electrical troubleshooting with the installation, modification, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing. Systems include but must not be limited to the following: New and existing marine electrical systems, electrical components, fixtures, electrical control equipment, and electrical systems that support propulsion plant and associated systems and components
  • Provide electrical technician support for urgent mission degrading CASREPs or other system and component problems affecting propulsion plant
  • Provide electrical technician support for assessments and inspections such as TMIs, TSRAs, INSURVs, and Assist Ship’s Force with obtaining supply and repair parts information as required
  • Provide Ship’s Force training on electrical troubleshooting techniques to identify and correct equipment
  • Provide out briefs to Ship’s Force representatives including ship’s officers and supporting personnel to include command management and executive leadership
  • Assist with technical research and resolution recommendations for the DFS
  • Provide electrical support for ESR to include work specification review, IDR and CFR resolution, and review of PCPs and other formal work
  • Provide support on electrical systems and subsystems outside the propulsion plant during periods of high workload. Systems and subsystems include: Auxiliary motors and controls to include automatic speed Switch gear to include instrumentation, controls, circuit breakers, reverse power relays, load shedding devices, and motor generator sets to include voltage regulators, frequency regulators, and monitors.
  • Provide support for lighting and power distribution systems to include cable, automatic bus transfer switches, circuit Battery chargers, power supplies, line voltage regulators, Electric/electronic control, detection, alarm sensing, indicating, and monitoring systems and equipment
  • Develop and evaluate plans for advanced troubleshooting of complex problems
  • Repair and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers

Minimum Requirements

  • At least seven (7) years technical experience with electrical systems, OR a bachelors degree in engineering with some practical experience as intern, or in extra-curricular jobs
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to pass and maintain a DoD secret security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate has experience providing engineering services to U.S. Navy or in shipyards
  • Experience with modern Navy Ship systems a plus (PLCs, electrical controllers, DDG-51, DDG-1000, LCS)
  • Active clearance on hiring
  • Modern electrical experience with PLCs
