Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Engineer at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Dam Neck Annex, Virginia Beach, VA.

You are imaginative and resourceful, using your 3D modeling skills in Autodesk Inventor / SolidWorks to simulate new designs. Your hands-on experience in U.S. Naval ships and mechanical design makes you stand out in this role. While you are self-reliant, you also enjoy collaborating ideas as a part of a team. Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Design products or systems in support of facilities' infrastructure, research, or maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate, troubleshoot, and approve installation activities as inspection services to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related scientific field, and at least 3 years of full-time professional experience working as a Mechanical Engineer
    • In lieu of degree requirement, at least 11 years of full-time professional experience working as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling (Inventor/SolidWorks) to assist in efficiently performing computations, and by permitting the modeling and simulation of new designs, as well as facilitating changes to existing designs
  • Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) for design data processing and for turning the design into a product
  • Due to the nature of the work, must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have an active Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on U.S. Navy surface platforms (CVN 68 / CVN 78 class aircraft carriers and LPD-17 / LHD-1 / HA-6 / LSD-41 / LSD-49 amphibious ship classes)
