Mechanical Engineer 2
Job Summary
Amentum is seeking a mechanical engineer to support operations at the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory in Morgantown, WV. This position will primarily support the facilities engineering group by; performing small scale design projects, evaluating and optimizing existing systems, troubleshooting system, and working closely with the site technicians.
Position Requirements:
Complete mechanical piping design packages in accordance with NFPA fire protection and fuel gas codes and ASME codes such as B31.3 and Section 8 Division 1.
Efficiently use AutoDesk AutoCAD and Inventor to prepare mechanical and process engineering drawings including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), fabrication drawings, and room/building layout drawings.
Prepare and check moderately complex calculations within the mechanical discipline including heat and cooling load, duct and component sizing (airflow), pipe/vessel design pressure, and pressure relief valve sizing calculations.
Create and/or review statements of work and cost estimates for subcontracts.
Support in-house technicians on new installations and assist with troubleshooting maintenance issues.
Maintain a positive working relationship with and communicate effectively to the customer.
Limited day travel to the Pittsburgh NETL sister site may be required. (5%-10%)
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 3 years of job-related experience or equivalent
Due to the nature of the work must be a US Citizen
Dual Citizenship not permitted
