The Security Detection and Automation Operation is comprised of four divisions to align with our customers’ missions and needs:

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting directly to the Senior Director PMO, the primary responsibility of this position is to plan, conduct and manage internal engineering research, design and development projects involving automated conveying systems. Consisting of mechanical and electrical hardware, PLC software and networked software solutions. The duties and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but are not limited to the duties described below.

Key responsibilities will also include:

  • High level of oversight for engineering research, design, development, and sustaining projects.

  • Monthly reporting to US Senior Engineering and Product management on performance, schedule and budgets for all projects being managed.

  • Responsibility for engineering project schedule and budget and drives cross functional technical team to achieve technical objectives.

  • Lead teams working on product development of automated delivery systems, software, systems, and network solutions.

  • Work closely with team members and management based at sites within the US and other worldwide locations.

  • Lead through complete lifecycle phases including requirements, concept development, design reviews, V&V and release to production using established formal development process.

  • Liaise with manufacturing, quality, test and product line departments as necessary to support each department’s activities, by supplying information and documents in a timely manner.

  • Responsible to manage and publish technical design specifications including analysis and decomposition of customer, product lines, sales and key suppliers’ requirements into subsystem specifications.

  • Work with other departments to define test strategy and V&V plan with traceability back to requirements to ensure compliance.

About you:

You will have a strong background in project management and engineering, together with proven experience and have hands on prior design engineering experience with the design, development, and production of electronics equipment for use in medical devices, government security and/or military appliances, coupled with:

  • BSc/BA in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or equivalent experience.

  • Proven project management experience, with automation or similar field.

  • Ability to manage and prioritise many tasks from competing internal and external customers.

  • Strong planning skills including defining requirements, time estimating, communicating progress to stakeholders at each phase of project, documentation, and testing.

  • Previous experience working within formal engineering change process.

  • PMP certification is preferred, but not essential.

Qualifications:

  • Broad Engineering background in mechanical, electrical or physical science disciplines. This position requires working with subject matter experts to make design trade-offs with respect to cost and performance.

  • Proven experience with managing major suppliers and sub-contractors.

  • Proven experience to estimate project budget and schedule required across engineering disciplines.

  • Demonstrated past success as an individual contributor with current position in a leading role as a project engineer, a technical engineer, or a high-level system engineer.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.

  • A solid and experience with the development of X-ray systems or analytical (measurement) systems is preferred.

  • Experience working with teams on product development of automated delivery systems preferred.
