Eaton Mission Systems is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer Manager. This position is based out of our Orchard Park, NY facility.

Position Overview:

The supplier quality engineer manager will be responsible to enhance practices that identify and minimize risks to customer satisfaction and will assure confidence in the supplier’s abilities to deliver goods or services that will satisfy Eaton’s needs.

In this function you will:

  • Develop and implement business unit supplier quality assurance strategies and processes that aim at ensuring product conformity
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities including internal/external audits, root cause investigations, and training program in conjunction with an effective and timely supplier corrective action request execution process, through root cause analysis, containment, corrective, and preventative measures.
  • Align with Eaton’s definition with holistic expectations. Enhance mechanisms to communicate these expectations to the supply base, assess supplier understanding and their ability to comply
  • Refine, execute, and monitor a robust qualification of parts for new product introduction (NPI) projects, engineering changes and supplier transfers through PPAP /APQP processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize team objectives and activities and in a dynamic environment
  • Define opportunities for policy, process, and quality risk elimination activities across supply chain
  • Establish mechanisms that support decision making for sourcing, evaluation and selection of suppliers to be placed on the Approved Supplier List and for selection on a contract-by-contract basis. Additionally, establish mechanisms to identify and mitigate risk with suppliers that may be underperforming.
  • “Roll-up-the-sleeves” mentality to execute on work tasks as needed
  • Create/monitor critical Supplier scorecards
  • This leadership role Manages Assists, Coaches, and develops Supplier Quality Engineers and activities
  • Maintain good relationships with all functional groups and locations within the company by participating in functional and multi-functional teams.
  • Establish mechanisms for joint quality planning with suppliers to minimize total landed cost and maximize the value of the Eaton/Supplier relationship
  • Establish standard, risk-based methods to validate suppliers conform to requirements such as driving and managing APQP and PPAP activities. This may include proactive containment during early production or reactive containment due to escape. Conformance methods may occur at Eaton, at the supplier and/or at an independent 3rd party
  • Challenge suppliers to react quickly and correctly identify and rectify root causes of nonconformities to prevent reoccurrence. Using tools such as 8D, 5 why, CAPA, PFMEA, Control plans, participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities
  • Supplier Nonconformity Management
  • Manage third party source inspection activity
  • Establish and maintain a continuous quality improvement program with suppliers. Improvement should be based upon a holistic rating system that considers impact to the business, primarily Customer Satisfaction and Total Landed Cost
  • Manage Supplier improvement projects (SIPs) as specific defined improvement efforts are required
  • Significant Travel may be required for short periods of time. Typical travel can be 10% of the time
  • Flexibility in workday in order to attend required internal/external meetings and teleconferences

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field, Quality, Statistics, or Supply Chain
  • 8+ years’ experience in a Quality, Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, or Supply Chain role
  • 5+ years of supervisory or management experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which may be subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Orchard Park, NY will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Suppliers, Supply Chain, and supplier quality systems, including data systems such as Oracle, Wisper, EASE and potentially TIPQA.
  • Excellent communicator who can represent Eaton Supplier Quality to the FAA, AS9100 Registrar, and Third Party inquiries
  • APQP and PPAP application and working knowledge
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of the company
  • Leadership skills to be a change agent, demonstrating perseverance and resilience when faced with challenges
  • Ability to consult, advice and influence cross-functionally within the organization
  • An advanced degree in Supply Chain Management or Engineering desirable
  • APICS or CPIM
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor certification
  • The incumbent must have the ability to manage relationships across multiple cultures
  • Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Sigma certification and experience.
