Leidos is seeking a CAD Drafter in our Lisle, IL office who will work as a member of a dynamic team within our Commercial Energy Solutions organization; specifically our Power Delivery division: an established group of electric utility engineering consultants that solve challenging substation engineering problems for our utility clients Nationwide. The CAD Drafter will work under the mentorship of a seasoned CAD Drafter in a fast paced environment to perform various drafting and detailing functions using MicroStation and AutoCAD software for various utility clients. This individual is expected to develop skills in the field of substation drafting and the ability to work with increased independence. This is a temporary to permanent position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with multiple engineers and designers to perform drafting of accurate drawing packages for utility power delivery projects including:

a. Protection and Controls: One-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, SCADA and communication drawings, panel front views and cabinet layouts, wiring diagrams, interconnection diagrams, AC/DC station service drawings, and other drawings as required.

b. Physical Electrical: General arrangements, plan and elevation layouts for conduit and troughing, control building layouts and elevations, grounding plans and details, raceway plans and details, equipment vendor files, structural/electrical details, and other drawings as required.

2. Draft in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation environments.

3. Plot, batch plot, scan, and issue project drawing and documentation packages.

4. Support multiple project deadlines and associated deliverables.

5. Support remote office CAD workload overflow on a need and availability basis.


Required Education & Experience:

-High school diploma/drafting certificate with 1+ years working or coursework experience.

-One or more years of drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD 2016/2018 and/or MicroStation V7/V8/V8i. Coursework experience applies.

-Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures.

-Proficiency in the ability to manipulate vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

-Ability to create and modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to detail.

-Ability to work within Windows 10 operating system environments.

-Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

-Experience with file sharing, document management, and collaboration tools.

-Strong verbal and written communication skills.

-Highly organized and efficient.

-Ability to operate in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.

-Knowledge of 3D modeling is a plus.

-Knowledge of VBA and AutoLisp is a plus.
